Titre : The correlation between the comonomer ratios of vinyl polymer tannages and their application properties Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Jianzhong Ma, Auteur ; Zongsui Yang, Auteur ; Shenhua Lu, Auteur ; Xinjiang Cheng, Auteur ; Wei Wang, Auteur ; Lingxian Feng, Auteur ; Genyuan Hu, Auteur Année de publication : 2002 Article en page(s) : p. 47-54 Note générale : Bibliogr.

Retannage
Tannage synthétiqueIndex. décimale : 675.2 Préparation du cuir naturel. Tannage Résumé : The correlations between the comonomer ratio of vinyl polymer tanning agents and their application properties were studied by the two-power regression orthogonal design. Eight monomers (AN-acrylonitrile, AM-acrylamide, MAA-methyl acrylic acid, MMA-methyl methacrylate, VAc-vinyl acetate, MA-methyl acrylate, EA-ethyl acrylate, BA-butyl acrylate) were separately chosen to copolymerize with acrylic acid (AA) to form the corresponding copolymers. We measured ten proper indexes of the application properties for each copolymer used in retanning such as thickness increment ratio, shrinking temperature increment, phy-mech properties, compressibility factor etc. The effects of the eight comonomers (AN, AM, MAA, MMA, VAc, MA, EA, BA) on the property indexes of the leather samples were also discussed.
It has been found that the comonomers with polar groups can increase the tensile strength and the shrinking temperature of the leather samples, but they may affect the softness of the leather samples and the pliability of the collagen fibrils. The comonomer of AM makes an outstanding contribution to the fullness of leather samples. The acrylate comonomers, such as MA, EA, BA, can improve the pliability of collagen fibrils of retanned leather samples and the improvement extent is related to the carbon chain length of the ester groups. The comonomers with methyl groups (such as MAA, MMA) can decrease the pliability of the leather samples.Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURES : Application of tannages-see details in Table III - Determination of leather properties

Retannage
Vapeur d'eauIndex. décimale : 675.2 Préparation du cuir naturel. Tannage Résumé : A number of retannages have been compared with an unretanned control after applying acrylate, butadiene acrylonitrile-polyvinylidene chloride and nitrocellulose finishes by normal pad and spray or airless spray techniques.
It has not been found possible to relate water vapour permeability with the percentage set achieved in the laboratory preforming test. There is some evidence that preforming results in a reduction in break and a loss of flexibility of the finish. Impregnation with an acrylate resin reduces water vapour permeability and the percentage set in preforming but prevents the reduction in break due to preforming.
Other properties assessed were substance, area changes due to retannage, water absorption, wet rub resistance, whiteness, cover, gloss, cold crack, wet adhesion, the heat resistance of the finish and heat resistance of the leather by the nip line test.Note de contenu : - PLAN OF THE EXPERIMENTS : Factors varied and levels of the factors - Statistical Plan - Experimental details - Tests applied -

Tannage Résumé : r-Methacryloxy propyltrimethoxysilane (MPTMS) was used as a coupling agent to introduce vinyl groups onto the surface of nano SiO2. A nanocomposite of MPNS/SMA was prepared by the polymerization of methacryloxypropyl nano SiO2 (MPNS), styrene (ST) and maleic anhydride (MA) with benzoyl peroxide (BPO)as initiator in toluene. The structure of the MPNS/SMA nanocomposite was characterized by FT-IR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy) and TEM (Transmission Electron Microscope).
A series of tanning experiments have been carried out to compare the tanning and retanning properties of MPNS/SMA and styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer (SMA). The results show that MPNS/SMA has good tanning capability, and that leather treated with the MPNS/SMA nanocomposite is of good quality.Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURES : Chemicals and instrumentation - Preparation of MPNS/SMA nanocomposite

RetannageIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Sample of chromed sheep leather were prepared to establish the relationship between the organoleptic properties of leather and its structure after being retanned and oiled. The organoleptic properties and structure of them were characterized by stress-stain analysis, SEM and organoleptic test. The relationship was investigated from the point of fibre mobility. The results show that, when fibre bundles become thin and porosity increases, fibre mobility increases, as does softness, but tightness weakens. With the extent of fibre orientation decreasing, thicknessincreases, and smoothness decreases. Fullness is a special parameter related of leather thickness and fibre mobility. As collagen fibres have better motion capability when there is a decrease in the degree of orientation, fullness improves. Tannage synthétiqueIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : In my paper presented in Barcelona in 1975, various steps were discussed for processing pigskin to produce a quality leather. Stressed were the use of specialty, non-ionic degreasing surfactants at various steps in the processing sequence to control and remove grease, as well as the use of dimethyl amine and proper strength bating enzymes in the beamhouse to prepare the skins properly for subsequent tannage. Attention was given to the use of acrylics in both retanning and finishing. It is the aim of this paper to concentrate on the role of acrylics in processing pigskin, since these unique materials contribute properties to leather not easily obtained with others.
