StatistiqueIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : We have carried out this study to characterise the physico-chemical properties of the tannery effluents at different treatment tanks and to identify if any aerobic planktonic forms are thriving in the toxic effluents. Pearson correlation matrix suggests significant positive correlation between pH and TSS, acidity, Pb and Cr. A significant positive correlation between TDS, EC and salinity is also recorded. The concentrations of six metals, namely, Cr, Pb, Cu, Zn, Mn and Fe are well within the safe limits. Principal Component Analysis, a dimension-reduction tool, shows that out of seventeen physico-chemical variables, fourteen variables contain most of the information to influence the biota. Canonical Correspondence Analysis plot strongly suggests that the physico-chemical factors significantly influenced the occurrence of phytoplankton in treatment sites of CETPs. This work addressed the basic study questions, whether any oxygen liberating life-foret is thriving in the treatment tanks that could be used in biological amelioration of toxic tannery effluents! We record the occurrence of three species of Cyanophyceae, one species under Chlorophyceae, two under Euglenophyceae and a single Bacillariophyceae in the treatment tanks extending an opportunity for further researches on the efficiency of these algal species in ameliorating different toxicants in the tannery wastewaters. In this work, we demonstrate a new method to prepare self-stratified, amphiphilic glycidyl-carbamate (GC)-based (epoxy urethane-based) coatings (AmpSiGC coatings) that have fouling-release properties making them suitable for marine use. The prepared coating systems are unique and durable in character as the bulk coating takes advantage of both epoxy and urethane functionalities while the surface is comprised of both hydrophilic and hydrophobic domains, granting it an amphiphilic characteristic. The experimental approach aimed to evaluate several factors that influence coating performance, including molecular weight of poly (ethylene glycol) (PEG) and PDMS moieties, ratio of hydrophobic (PDMS) and hydrophilic (PEG) components in the system, and the effect of different curing agents. The results demonstrated that polymeric chains of 10,000 Mn PDMS and 750 Mn PEG at 10–15 wt.% each offer substantially improved or comparable fouling-release performance in comparison to commercial marine coatings. This paper reports on the facile synthesis and characterization of the GC resin and GC prepolymers using FTIR and epoxy titrations ; surface characterization of the coatings using ATR-FTIR, XPS, and AFM; and fouling-release assessment of the surfaces using laboratory biological assays with the barnacle Amphibalanus amphitrite, the algae Ulva linza and Navicula incerta, and the bacteria Cellulophaga lytica. Several of the AmpSiGC coatings exhibited promising performance, which were better or comparable to the internal and commercial reference coatings. The performance of the systems was dependent on all of the factors considered in this study. Note de contenu : - Materials

Note de contenu : - MATERIALS AND METHODS : Panelists - Samples and carriers - Test preparation - Data analysis

As a result we have established a fast complexometric method with residual titration for the determination of Al2O3 in complex coloured residual tanning solutions. The absence of systematic errors in the proposed procedure is proved. The repeatability of the method is very good, the standard deviation s = 0.01g/l Al2O3 for concentrations of Al2O3 0.37g/l and 1.92g/l. K+, Na+, and Ca2+ do not interfere with the procedure.
