The hydrophilic cotton fiber absorbs, by contrast, water quite well in the washing process, which makes the soil and stains easier to remove.
By physical absorbing of Repel-O-Tex soil release soil polymers (SRP) interactions between synthetic fabric and greasy soil are reduced and their surface hydrophilicity is enhanced making stain removal easier. Already at the first wash a strong adhesion of soil particles on the fibers is prevented and in the second the soil removal becomes much easier. In the following washing cycles the washing effect will be enhanced by obtaining the whiteness of the fibers without a build-up effect on the surface.Note de contenu : - Repel-O-Tex soil release polymers in the washing process

Textiles et tissus synthétiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In this study, the antimicrobial and photodegradation properties of nylon fabric were improved by chemical treatment using 3-mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane (3-MPTMS), which binds to photocatalyst TiO2, on a nylon fabric surface. The nylon fibers were impregnated with a solution containing isopropanol, titanium dioxide (TiO2), and 3-MPTMS at optimum ratios, and then stirred for 90 min. To remove the nonreactive impurities, the sample was washed twice with isopropanol and distilled water, and then dried. The TiO2 concentration, agitation temperature, and time were varied to determine suitable coating conditions for attachment to the nylon surface; the resulting properties were confirmed by scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive spectroscopy. To evaluate the antimicrobial and photodegradation properties of TiO2, antimicrobial tests were conducted using the microbial reduction method and contact angle tests. The fiber contamination rate was measured by computer color matching after the sample was contaminated with methylene blue. Moreover, the antimicrobial activity of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli strains on the treated nylon was investigated.

Textiles et tissus synthétiquesIndex. décimale : 677.47 Non cellulosiques : Nylon, acryliques, polyesters, vinyles Résumé : Corn silk is a clean and cheap agricultural waste with protein and cellulosic structure and traditionally usages was applied to polyester for the first time to increase the cell viability of zinc oxide on polyester fabric creating good hydrogel properties. The corn silk was first dried under sunlight, powdered and dispersed into the homogeneous solution using sodium hydroxide/ urea at a boil. Zinc acetate and a cationic surfactant along with the polyester fabric were placed in the alkali solution with or without corn silk at a boil for 1 hour. Very good antimicrobial properties against P. aeruginosa were obtained on the fabric containing corn silk/zinc oxide composites close to 100 and 87 %, respectively. Finally, the application of corn silk along with a synthesis of ZnO particles introduced a novel polyester fabric with antimicrobial, highly hydrophilic properties. Textiles et tissus synthétiquesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : A series of symmetrical optical brighteners based on stilbene-oxadiazole derivatives were prepared by the simple synthetic route of a condensation reaction between 4,4?-dicarboxystilbene and N,N?-carbonyldiimidazole reagent, forming stilbene 4,4?-ethene-1,2-diyldibenzohydrazide as a key intermediate. The obtained compounds were characterised by analysis of nuclear magnetic resonance, mass spectrometry, and elemental analysis data. The absorption maximum wavelength, fluorescence emission wavelength, and fluorescence quantum yield were measured in N,N-dimethylformamide solution at room temperature, and the fluorescence properties of the prepared compounds in the solid state were observed and measured. The compounds exhibited bluish and greenish fluorescence emission, with the fluorescence quantum yield in the range 0.2–0.8; the effects of substituents on the emission spectra of these compounds were interpreted. The prepared compounds were applied as optical brighteners to polyester and polyamide-6 fabrics at various concentrations, and their CIE whiteness index and fastness properties were studied.
