Souplesse (mécanique)Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Over the past few years, the challenges of globalisation, consolidation and economical point of view have meant that manufacturers of epoxy formulations have to constantly improve their capability to meet the needs of customers. An active area for advancement is that of epoxy and polyamide resin with castor oil. Generally, people working in the coating industries are familiar with castor oil, but this paper provides information on the new use of castor oil in epoxy and polyamide resin. This novel product (castor oil-modified epoxy resin/castor oil-modified polyamide) provides a previously unattainable combination and improved flexibility and toughness to a variety of ambient cure applications. This communication will review the performance of these castor oil-modified epoxy and polyamide resin surface coatings and adhesives. Based on the results of this study, these systems offer some advantages without much affecting the traditional properties of epoxy and polyamide resin in a variety of applications. Tétraméthoxy méthyl mélamineIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The influence of the crosslinking agent type and amount on the process of fast thermal curing and on the properties of polyester coatings were investigated. Hexa(methoxy-methyl)melamine (HMMM) and tetra (methoxymethyl)melamine (TMMM) were used as crosslinking agents for the polyester resin.
The process of the polyester/melamine system crosslinking was studied by sol-gel analysis and ATR-FTIR Spectroscopy. The castings with TMMM differed from the coatings with HMMM, the latter having improved hardness, MEK resistance and higher glass transition temperature. However, they were inferior in terms of elasticity and adhesion. The necessary balance of ail the above-men-tioned physical and mechanical properties was obtained for the films with the methoxy/ hydroxy-group ratio of 3,4 for HMMM and 2.3 for TMMM.

Revêtements protecteursIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Silicon dioxide coatings modified by (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (ATS) were studied to test their potential use as materials for stone protection. The synthetic route is simple and environmentally friendly due to the lack of volatile organic components. These materials are simply obtained by mixing tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS), ATS, and OH-terminal polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS-OH). The ATS acts as a curing catalyst and coupling agent. The formulations can be directly applied onto stone substrates, particularly the external stone of buildings. Thus, the goal of an application of silicon dioxide modified by ATS is to restore and to protect building substrates. In the hybrid materials, PDMS acts to form bridges linking the silica particles. Finally, the effectiveness of these products as a stone consolidant and coating was assessed by multiple indicators, including the mechanical resistance, peeling performance, water uptake by capillarity, and contact angle. Sol-gel, ProcédéIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Photobase generators can generate bases in situ. They have huge potential as photocatalysts for polymer crosslinking and modification, and can be used for photocuring systems for epoxy compounds and for photoinduced imidisation polyamic acid in the coatings and microelectronic industries. PBGs are easy to activate in the case of compounds that have active protons, e.g. thiols and carboxylic acids. Note de contenu : - TYPES OF PBG

TransglutaminaseIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : It was reported that supercritical fluids could increase the reaction rates and stability of enzymes. The transglutaminase (TGase) was used as a cross-linking agent for collagen fibre and cattle hide in supercritical carbon dioxide (SCF-CO2) medium. The denaturation temperature (Td) and shrinkage temperature (Ts) of the cross-linked samples were determinated. SCF-CO2 could improve the cross-linking reaction of the TGase with the collagen fibre and cattle hide according to the denaturation temperature determination. For collagen fibre, the Td of TG-SCF-Collagen is about 20°C higher than that of TG-Collagen in water medium. While the Td of cattle hide treated with TGase in SCF-CO2 is about 10°C higher than that of in water medium. Interestingly, the shrinkage temperature of the cattle hide did not show any change while it was treated by TGase both in SCF-CO2 medium and in water. However, the appearence of the hide after TGase treatment was tighter and finer with the area reduction. The results implied that intermolecular cross-linking created by TGase did not like the cross-linking by chrome (III)tanning agents, which formed rigid structures among the collagen fibrils that play the main role for the increase of shrinkage temperature of leather.
