Avions -- Revêtements:Avions -- PeintureIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Corrosion remains a significant threat to aircraft structural integrity ; it can reduce section thicknesses, generate corrosion-related cracks, and create stress concentrations which act as sites for fatigue cracking. The presence of corrosion induced cracking can shorten the overall crack growth life, and perhaps more significantly, lead to fatigue cracking in areas which would not normally be regarded as critical. Current corrosion-damage maintenance procedures are usually based on a policy of fin-and-fix which often involves the complete stripping of an aircraft coating system to permit visual inspection of the outer skin of the aircraft, or the disassembly of structure to assist inspection. All these activities are costly and may significantly aircraft flett readiness. Note de contenu : COATING PROPERTIES : 1. Corrosion protective properties - 2. Optical properties - 3. Mechanical properties plus chemical/solvent resistance - 4. Exterior durability and property maintenance in exposure - 5. Film thickness : Interaction of sol-gel network with metal surfaces and with the primer or topcoat. Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=10495

RevêtementsIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Cement paints containing no hydrated lime were prepared and evaluated. Whiting, redoxide and titanium dioxide pigments were used in this investigation. The cement paint having 40% cement and 60% whiting was found to give excellent film properties. The study further showed that redoxide pigment can be used in cement paint up to 40% pigmentation, while titanium dioxide alone cannot be used. Note de contenu : - Efflorescence

Revêtement conducteurIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Conductive coating is a manufacturing process that employs charged particles giving more efficient paint. Paint, in the form of either powdered particles or atomized liquid, is initially projected towards a conductive work piece using normal spraying methods, and is then accelerated toward the work piece by a powerful electrostatic charge. A high voltage electrostatic charge which is applied to both the work piece and the sprayer mechanism results in the final coating. This coating obtained is having functional value and many interesting characteristics resulting in tailor made applications. Revêtements en phase aqueuseIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The current study presents an attempt to develop two molecules, namely sulfonated aromatic diol (SAD) and sulfonated aromatic diamine (SADAM), to induce flame retardancy, thermal stability, and dispersion ability for water-based polyurethane dispersions (WPUDs). The previously reported itaconic acid-based polyester polyol was used for prepolymer synthesis as well as for chain extension. Pre- and post-sulfonated compounds were subjected to characterization tests such as FTIR, 13C-NMR, 1H-NMR, and CHNS for confirmation of their structures. The standard dispersant used for the basis of comparison was commercially available dimethyl propionic acid (DMPA). WPUDs were synthesized in different molar concentrations of DMPA, SAD, and SADAM, and the covalent incorporation of all three molecules in the polymer backbone was confirmed by FTIR. The WPUD films were subjected to various thermal tests like TGA and DSC as well as mechanical tests like flexibility and pencil hardness. WPUD films obtained from SADAM showed a remarkable increase in Tg as well as char content. The THRI values for SAD- and SADAM-based films were better than DMPA-based films. SAD- and SADAM-based WPUD films also showed an increase in LOI value and UL-94 ratings with the maximum LOI value of 26. Dispersions based on DMPA showed better stability as compared to dispersions based on SAD and SADAM.

Nano poly(tetrafluoroethylene) (PTFE was prepared by a forced impact method from PTFE powder. The PTFE was characterised by dynamic light scattering, particle-size analysis. To improve the surface interactivity and dispersibility of nano-PTFE, it was treated with sodium metal in liquid ammonia. The PTFE material was incorporated in a coating formulation and coating composite characterised by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). In this work, the PTFE was incorporated into the coating at various loadings and its effect on vairous properties was studied. It was observed that the scratch resistance and chemical resistance were increased whilst the critical surface tension and the coefficient of friction were decreased.
