In this paper, a new method to measure surface roughness is presented using a 3D laser scanning confocal microscope for high-resolution topographic analysis and is compared to conventional SEM. For this study, the surfaces of eight samples based on a poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVDF-HFP) host polymer with different liquid interpenetrating components were analyzed. Polymethylhydrosiloxane, triethylene glycolallylmethylether, (3,3,3-trifluoropropyl)methylcyclotrisiloxane (D3-C2H4CF3), polysiloxane-comb-propyloxymethoxytriglycol (PSx), polysiloxane-comb-propyl-3,3,3-trifluoro (PSx-C2H4CF3), poly[bis(2-(2-methoxyethoxy) ethoxy) phosphazene, or poly[bis(trifluoro)ethoxy] phosphazene was chosen as interpenetrating compound to investigate the impact of comb and double-comb-structured polymer backbones, as well as their dipolar or fluorous residues on the PVDF-HFP-miscibility. Different phases of the constituting ingredients were identified via their thermal properties determined by DSC. Additionally, the COSMO-RS method supported the experimental results, and with regard to computed σ-profiles, new modified structures for polysiloxane and polyphosphazene synthesis were suggested.

The A2 + CB2 synthetic method was used where neopentyl glycol was A2 and 2,2-Bis(hydroxymethyl) propionic acid was CB2. The acid value and hydroxyl values of the synthesized hyperbranched polymer were determined according to ASTM D974 and ASTM D4274, respectively. The molecular structural characterizations of hyperbranched polyol were determined by FTIR and NMR spectroscopy techniques. The hyperbranched polyurethanes were synthesized by using hyperbranched polyol and crosslinking agent isophorone diisocyanate in different mole ratios of OH:NCO (1:1.2, 1:1.4, 1:1.6). These mixtures were used as coating materials on mild steel panels and glass plates. The coating properties of polyurethanes such as gloss and cross-cut adhesion were studied. The immersion test of coatings was carried out in HCl, NaCl, NaOH and water. The electrochemical properties of the coatings were examined using an electrochemical method in electrolytes consisting of HCl, NaOH, and NaCl. Thermal stability and surface morphology were studied by TGA and SEM, respectively. Stabilité thermiqueIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Waterborne hyperbranched alkyd–acrylic resins (HAAR) are interesting materials that provide excellent properties yet require only low levels of solvent in formulations using them. However, they have been scarcely studied. Therefore, the goal of this work was to prepare and evaluate various properties of HAAR. These materials were obtained by miniemulsion polymerization from a hyperbranched alkyd resin (HAR), methyl methacrylate (MMA), butyl acrylate (BA), and acrylic acid (AA). The proportions of HAR:acrylic monomers were as follow: 50:50 (HAAR1), 40:60 (HAAR2), 30:70 (HAAR3), and 20:80 (HAAR4). The particle size increased with the content of HAR, but the colloidal stability, critical deformation, zeta potential, thermal stability, and hardness followed an opposite behavior. The order of colloidal stability of the HAAR miniemulsions was HAAR4 > HAAR3 > HAAR2 > HAAR1. The particle morphology of the HAAR was mainly core–shell, but acrylic and alkyd particles were also observed. In addition, all HAAR initially exhibited a reduction in complex viscosity (η*) with the increase in angular frequency. The thermal stability of the HAR was lower than that of the HAAR. The HAAR showed better resistance against a 0.10 M sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution than HAR. Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL : Materials - Synthesis of the HAAR - Characterization
