TriméthylolpropaneIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Polyurethane flame retardant coatings are composed of polyols and polyisocyanates. Flame retardant groups are usually introduced to the polyol structure. In this research intermediates were obtained by esterification of 2,4-dichlorobenzoic acid and trimethylolpropane for the purpose of introducing a flame retardant group to the polyol structure. Then chlorine-containing modified polyesters were synthesized by polycondensation of trimethylolpropane, adipic acid, 1,4-butanediol, and the intermediate. The content of 2,4-dichlorobenzoic acid in the intermediate was varied with 10, 20, and 30 wt%. Two-component polyurethane flame retardant coatings were prepared by blending the products with polyisocyanate. Various physical properties of these new flame retardant coatings were comparable to non-flame retardant coatings. They showed drying times of four to seven hours and pot life times of 14-20 hr, which could belong to the flame retardant coatings with long pot life time. The coating with 30 wt% 2,4-dichlorobenzoic acid showed a self-extinguishing property in the vertical burning test. The structures and properties of PU-2 and PUP-2 were characterized by FTIR and surface tensiometer. The fatliquoring experiments were carried out in three different groups (treated with PUP-2 alone, with the complex of hexadecyl phosphate ester (SU) and PUP-2, or with the complex of SLP, PUP-2 and other commercialized fatliquoring agents, respectively). The physical and organoleptic properties of the resultant leathers were investigated and SEM was carried out in the study of fiber splitting. The leathers treated in the three different fatliquoring experiments all did not have fatty spew defect. Furthermore, the resultant leathers treated with PUP-2 alone or with the complex of SLP and PUP-2 had the advantage of resistance to yellowing. This new phosphate ester meets the requirements for the leathers with a good performance in resistance tu yellowing and avoiding fatty spew defect. Revêtements en phase aqueuse -- Additifs:Peinture en phase aqueuse -- AdditifsIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Nanostructured materials have become increasingly widespread, and in recent decades, the processing industries have shown a great interest in coating materials with antibacterial properties. In this research, the biocidal effect of silver nanoparticles in the water-soluble polyurethane paint composition was evaluated. Silver nanoparticles in the aqueous phase were prepared by chemical reduction at 500 ppm using polyvinyl alcohol. The material was characterized by UV–Vis, inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry, dynamic light scattering, zeta potential, and transmission electron microscopy. The effect of silver nanoparticles in terms of yellowing and gloss variation was evaluated by a UV-B radiation test. Silver nanoparticles had no effect on the gloss and yellowing paint film. In addition, positive results were obtained for the protection and resistance against bacteria but not satisfactory resistance against fungi.
Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Monoglycerides (MGs) of four oils (castor, linseed, soybean and sesame) were prepared. They were reacted with a trimer in definite proportions to prepare polyurethane (PU) coatings. These coatings were applied in the form of thin films on tin plates and analysed for various coating properties such as gloss, scratch resistance, flexibility properties and physicochemical tests. A highly cross-linked product was obtained due to the higher functionality associated with MGs compared with their molecular weight. The trimer also imparted cross-linking due to its trifunctionality, and a hard yet flexible, tough, glossy polyurethane coating was obtained.

Réactions chimiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : A series of ambient-temperature self-crosslinked waterborne polyurethanes denoted as WBPUs were successfully synthesized by incorporating a novel diol chain extender bearing two ketone groups, 2,2-bis(4-(2-hydroxypropoxy levulinate)phenyl)-propane (BHLPP), which was prepared using 2,2-bis(4-(2,3-epoxypropoxy)phenyl)-propane and levulinic acid, with 4,4-methylenedicyclohexyl diisocyanate, poly-neopentylene adipate glycol, and dimethylolpropionic acid. After post-adding adipic dihydrazide (ADH), self-crosslinking was achieved by the reaction between the ketone (–CO–) of BHLPP and the hydrazine (–NHNH2) of ADH during film formation. For comparison, noncrosslinked waterborne polyurethane (WPU) without BHLPP and ADH was prepared. The structure of BHLPP was characterized by IR and NMR. The properties of the WPU and WBPU dispersions were investigated by measuring the stability, particle size, and morphology. The effects of the ratio of n(–NHNH2)/n(–CO–) and the content of BHLPP were studied in terms of hardness, water resistance, solvent resistance, and thermal properties of WPU and WBPU films. The WBPU dispersions exhibited excellent stability, bimodal distribution, and regular spheroid morphology. The optimal ratio of n(–NHNH2)/n(–CO–) for ketone–hydrazine self-crosslinking was 0.75:1. Importantly, the WBPU films showed superior hardness, water resistance, solvent resistance, and thermal properties to WPU film.
