Revêtements antisalissures:Peinture antisalissuresIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) is a hydrophilic polymer that has been extensively used in the biomedical and marine environment due to its antifouling properties. In the biomedical field, PEG has been successfully used to functionalize surfaces due to its resistance to cell and nonspecific protein adsorption. However, the long-term stability of PEG has limited its use in some areas. In the shipping industry, there is a great need for long-term solutions to keep the hulls of the ships fouling-free. The long-term stability of PEG in polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) fouling-release coatings is studied here, in both accelerated laboratory tests and real seawater conditions. This article shows how PEG-based copolymers, which have been exposed in fouling-release coatings to real-life seawater conditions, are isolated and compared to those exposed to accelerated laboratory testing with successful results. The influence of the chemistry of the PEG compounds, the chosen laboratory degrading agents, and the possible degradation pathways and products are discussed. RéticulantsIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : In this investigation, a high-consistency rubber (HCR) was mixed with five different, typically used crosslinking agents that are based on organic peroxide. Furthermore, the amount of crosslinking agent was varied in order to quantify the effect on the mechanical properties. All materials were processed in a hot pressing process, and, subsequently, post-cured. The properties were characterized by the measurement of the swelling ratio, shore A-hardness, rebound resilience and tensile test. We successfully proved that the swelling ratio is a suitable indicator for the evaluation of the crosslinking density of silicone rubber. The results show that the crosslinking density increases as the amount of crosslinking agent increases. The hardness, rebound resilience, and stress at 100% elongation increase as the crosslinking agent does. In contrast, the ultimate elongation decreases as the crosslinking density rises. The absolute values depend on the type of crosslinking agent used. The most commonly used crosslinking agent for high-consistency rubber is Di(2.4-dichlorobenzoyl) peroxide. We were able to verify that there are more possible curing agents based on organic peroxides on the market. Depending on the required properties, customized silicone elastomers could be easily produced. Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL : Materials - Preparation - Characterisation

Revêtements autostratifiantsIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Great attention has been paid to silicone-based fouling-release coatings (FRCs) in the realm of maritime antifouling due to their highly efficient and eco-friendly properties, but many challenges remain for developing a silicone-based FRC that improves its adhesion performance without reducing the antifouling property. Herein, a non-toxic silicone-based FRC has been developed by integrating acrylic resin (AR) with a silicone resin (PDMS) to spontaneously form a self-stratified AR/PDMS coating. The AR/PDMS antifouling coating stil) has the same fouling-release performance but improved adhesion strength (from 0.4 to 2.0 MPa) in comparison with pristine PDMS. Moreover, the antifouling coating has proven to be extremely stable in different environments (such as pH, heating, and ultraviolet exposure). The study provides a facile and convenient self-stratified strategy to develop antifouling coatings, contributing to environmentally friendly coatings in marine applications.
