Revêtements organiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The possibility of a long lasting durable coating that can retain its initial properties has always fascinated paint and polymer technologists. The clearcoats which are applied today on automotive vehicles is designed to provide a brilliant high gloss appearance with good mechanical, chemical and durability properties.
A vehicle gets subjected to many damaging elements in the environment which contribute to scratch and mar damage of the coatings. The accumulative effect of mars, scratches and chipping deteriorates the appearance of the vehicle. Along with this, the chemical degradation occurring due to the environmental factors viz. weathering, high temperature and air pollutants causes changes in the coating's physical and performance properties. These aspects affect the aesthetic appeal of the coating system and have resulted in new challenges for the coating technologist.
The present paper looks at the mar and scratch resistance behavior of coatings and detailed analysis made to characterize the defect and develop a good mar/scratch resistant coating.Note de contenu : - Difference between mar, scratch, abrasion, chip resistance and mar property assessment : Assessing mar resistance

They hold answers to some of unmet demands in different markets like automotive, industrial, marine, aerospace etc. And, it's really well sustained by intense growth of smart additives and new preparation methods. Smart Coatings are coatings, but with predefined properties and special films, which make them sense and respond to environment and other externat stimuli. Smart coatings are made of programmable materials with a variety of physical, chemical, electrical and mechanical properties. These materials can changes in light, pressure, chemical, heat along with other stimuli. Several smart coating systems have already been developed and examined, as a result they are currently under investigation by numerous laboratories and industries across the world. Examples of smart coatings include stimuli responsive, antimicrobial, antifouling, conductive, self-healing, and super hydrophobic systems. Note de contenu : - Self-cleaning coating

Revêtements organiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Direct to Metal Coatings (DTM) is a rapidly growing segment of the coatings industry. This growth is related to cost reduction attributed to improved efficiency, time savings, fewer production steps and enhanced sustainability. These coatings are used in the heavy construction industry, building products and product finishing. Many of these applications require performance in demanding exposure conditions. Covestro has been able to provide solvent free aqueous polyurethane dispersions Bayhydrol which give the coating manufacturers a broad range of freedom to formulate their coatings and help them to surpass demands of current VOC and performance requirements. RhéologieIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : While understanding the rheology of any formulation, clarity around the core fundamentals enables efficient management of the rheological properties of your product. Let us begin by understanding some fundamentals terms. What is viscosity ? Viscosity and rheology are often confused, and they are significantly different concepts. While rheology is the study of flow, viscosity, a part of rheology, can be obtained from rheological measurements. Viscosity is a measurement of the fluid's resistance to flow and a function of shear rate or stress, with time and temperature dependence. In rheological measurements, the strain rate is related to the measurement of the deformation and stress is related to the measurement of the for required to deform a material. Shear stress (τ; Pa), one of the main parameters studied in rheology, is the force per unit area that a fluid requires to start flowing. Shear rate (γ; s-1) describes the velocity gradient. It is the rate at which a fluid is sheared or "worked" during flow. Note de contenu : - Pseudo-plasticity

French polish is a process, not just a material. The main material is shellac. Although there are several other shellac based finishes, notall are classified as French polishing. The French polish technique is an excellent method to accent exoticwood grain.
This is resin dried and then made into solution in alcohol. This is liquid shellac. Shellac was confined to the far east until traders introduced it to Europe in the 1700s, however, it wasn't until "the 18 century that the technique of using Shellac was refined by The French, hence known as French Polishing".En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/18YewQ7-CMFurTicu8E5wy0G90KbLJe-P/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=36470
