Manufacturers are making substantial investments in developing larger wind turbines in order to enhance efficiency and increase yield among wind farms. However, as the size of blades continues to grow, current materials and design and manufacturing methodologies are reaching their limits. In particular, the need to reduce wind turbine weight is becoming more critical as turbines grow in size. Note de contenu : - Automation cuts time and costs

Titre : Latent acid catalysts for process control of phenolics Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Graham Murray, Auteur Année de publication : 2010 Article en page(s) : p. 57-58 Langues : Anglais (eng) Tags : Phénoplaste 'Pile combustible' Application 'Pressage à chaud' Résol Polycondensation 'Matériau composite' 'Contrôle de processus' Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : For composite products where fire safety is paramount and high temperature resistance is important, the polymer of choice is phenolic. Phenolic composites are usually produced using resole resins, which are polymerised by the addition of strong acid catalysts or by hot pressing. Resole resins however, can be highly reactive when mixed with strong acids and dangerous exothermic reactions can result. The reactivity of an acid catalysed resole can be so rapid that the processing becomes impossible. This often means the pre-mixing of resin and catalyst must be done immediately before use, limiting applications to those where compounding is close to production operations because shipping and storage is problematic. Finding an effective latent acid catalyst to control polymer chemistry solves many process issues. Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=13777

A green-label system and the European Composites Recycling Concept (ECRC) have been launched in the EU. Recycled materials (recyclate) are much more commonly used in North America. In Japan, the cement kiln process is being used with success, while chemical recycling technologies are being developed actively. The more governments and consumers become educated and aware, the more demanding they become for materials and processes that will address their environmental concerns. As a result, we see increased demands from these groups for improved technologies that will help reduce hazardous air and ground pollutants, whilst affording some level of reusability without sacrificing performance.
