1. Livraison aux raffineries pour l'extraction de l'huile de grignons ;
2. Epandage comme amendement sur les terres agricoles, de préférence après compostage ;
3. Emploi comme combustible pour le chauffage.
4. Fabrication du savon de Marseille.

First, the OPF was treated by the silane coupling agent : 3-(Trimethoxysilyl) propyl methacrylate (TMSPMA). Then, the treated OPF was added to polystyrene (PS) at different ratios, creating the composite samples. The structural and property changes resulting from this treatment were observed and discussed through Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), morphological analysis, thermal analysis and mechanical analysis. The results show that, with the growing OPF content, the tensile strength and elongation at break of the composites decreased, while the Young’s modulus increased; the composites prepared with the silane coupling agent were more thermally stable than the untreated composites ; the filler-matrix interaction was improved through the surface modification of the OPF by the TMSPMA).

Traîtements de surfaceIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : The effects of alkali treatment and dune sand (DS) addition on the mechanical, morphological, thermal and water absorption behavior of date palm fiber (DPF) reinforced unsaturated polyester (UP) composites were investigated. The composites were synthesized by hand lay-up method with 10, 20, and 30 wt% of both treated and untreated date palm fiber (TDPF/DPF). Furthermore, composites having 10, 20 and 30 wt% of untreated date palm fiber and dune sand (both of them were in equal wt%) were also fabricated. Alkali treatment improved the tensile strength, tensile modulus, flexural strength and flexural modulus of the resulting composites. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) revealed the better interfacial interaction of treated date palm fibers/UP composites. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) showed that thermal stability, and degradation temperature of treated DPF composites were best over the untreated DPF composites. Water absorption test indicated the decreasing of hydrophilic character of the filler after treatment with sodium hydroxide (NaOH). Overall analysis represented that satisfactorily improved physical properties of UP for various engineered and hi-tech applications were obtained with 10 wt% fillers loading (5 wt% date palm fiber and 5 wt% dune sand particles).
Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : In order to improve the flame retardancy and smoke suppression of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), ammonium octamolybdate (AOM)/nano-antimony trioxide (nano-Sb2O3)/dioctyl Phthalate (DOP)/PVC composites were prepared by high energy ball milling and melt blending methods using AOM as the smoke suppressant. The effects of AOM on the flame retardancy and smoke suppression of the PVC composites were studied by means of vertical burning tests (UL-94), limiting oxygen index (LOI), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and cone calorimetry (CCT). The results showed that the flame retardancy of PVC composites containing AOM was improved, namely the UL-94 grade of the composites reached the V-0 grade and the LOI increased from 22.3% to 30.6%, whilst the heat release rate (HRR), total heat release (THR), smoke production rate (SPR), total smoke production (TSR) and smoke factor (SF) decreased significantly. In addition, AOM could promote the dehydrochlorination reaction of the PVC composites at lower temperature, resulting in more compact and continuous char residues. Therefore, AOM is an effective smoke suppressant and has a good synergistic flame retardant effect with nano-Sb2O3 in flame retardant PVC matrix composites. Revêtements organiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Resins have been widely used in a variety of industry fields for more than a century, such as coatings, adhesives, or automotive. Their low cost and workability are extremely useful in creating more and more advanced materials due to their chemical structure (Ghaffari et al. in Surf Interfaces 17:100340, 2019). Common problem today is the wetting tendency of various materials which in the end can result in further damage in the structure because of atmospheric conditions. Nowadays, scientists are trying to find better ways to improve the properties of coatings or composites in cases like hydrophobicity or icephobicity. One of the examp les are fluorinated organic compounds with good linking properties to the substrate (Qin et al. in Mater Today Commun 22:100770, 2020). Because o f that, to im prove the properties of a basic epoxy resin, its chain has been modified with hydrophobic compounds with different chain lengths. Influence of modifiers’ molecule size on hydrophobic and ice adhesion properties of obtained epoxy resins has been tested. Chemical composition of prepared coatings was analyzed by FTIR. Moreover, their thermal stability was investigated using TG and DSC measurements. Additionally, wettability of the samples was analyzed with a goniometer. Furthermore, their ice adhesion tests were performed on a dedicated apparatus. As a result, presented work provides a critique overview and concept of promising icephobic and hydrophobic coatings in the industry. Moreover, these products have a high chance to be developed further. Calcium pimelate is a highly effective β-nucleator for isotactic polypropylene (iPP). The β-nucleated iPP was characterized by wide angle x-ray diffraction (WAXD) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) for its crystallinity and crystal structure. In addition, the injection-molded samples were tested for thermo-mechanical properties. It is found that very low quantity (< 0.1 wt. %) of β-nucleator is required to produce sufficiently high β-crystal fraction (Kβ) in isotactic polypropylene. β-nucleated iPP shows increment of 11 to 14 °C in its heat deflection temperature (HDT). It was also observed that slow cooling rate of β-nucleated iPP promotes the formation of β-crystals and that tensile stretching leads to complete transformation of β crystals into a-crystals at room temperature. It was also revealed that the presence of maleic anhydride grafted polypropylene (PP-g-MA), a well-known coupling agent (or compatibilizer), may reduce the (Kβ) value to a marginal extent. It was also observed that the thermo-mechanical properties were not much affected by the presence of PP-g-MA. Therefore, calcium pimelate may be used as β-nucleator in case of neat as well as reinforced polypropylene containing maleic anhydride as coupling agent.
