Temps de cycle (production)Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Rapid AFP, followed by stamp forming offers a potential process route for manufacturing tailored thermoplastic components in short cycle times. AFP allows for additional cost and weight optimization compared to conventional uniform thickness blanks by enabling optimized lay-ups and near net shape blank contours, which improve the performance/weight ratio of the part and reduce production scrap. Subsequent stamp forming provides the final shape and consolidation quality of the part. Note de contenu : - Component design

Structure en nid d'abeillesIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Particularly two industries have shown considerable interest in FPP technology: aerospace industry in automating the lay-up processes of multi-material lightweight components with sandwich cores, as well as manufacturers of CFRP pressure vessels for hydrogen-powered vehicles (FCEVs), who can thus achieve savings in the double-digit percentage range. In both areas, FPP is the first technology to automate critical fiber lay-up processes in order to industrialize the production. Recyclage (déchets, etc.)Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Automated Fibre Placement (AFP) processes produce more of uncured-prepreg-tape material scrap than is generally imagined. Due to reasons of machine set-up time, all the reels of tape in an AFP machine are usually changed simultaneously as soon as the tape left on one reel is not sufficient to build the next component. Some reels have up to 200 metres of material left when they are exchanged. With large AFP systems processing up to 32 reels in parallel, manufacturers consequently suffer from high scrap rates, up to 10% for larger parts. In addition, the uncured prepreg material must be disposed of at high cost. All this significantly drives up the cost of otherwise efficient AFP processes.
