Generally, these solvents provide various benefits, such as facilitating proper film formation, making it easier to mix parts A & B together, and are also thought to extend the pot-life. However, due to new lower VOC limits on floor coatings enacted in the south coast region of California, the reduction or removal of organic solvents is desired. By using specific raw materials and formulation techniques, it is possible to formulate garage concrete floor topcoats with VOC contents below 50g/L, while maintaining good performance properties and ease of field applications by do-it-yourselfers (DIY) Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=9837

Revêtements en phase aqueuse:Peinture en phase aqueuseIndex. décimale : 667.6 Peintures Résumé : So far we have covered the formulating principles of interior emulsion paints. Now let us turn our attention to exterior emulsion paints. The formulations of exterior paints differ from interior one as the former had to take on and withstand the beating of weather conditions in addition to exhibiting of non-fading characteristics. We all know that, Paint typically contains four essential ingredients, namely pigment, binder, liquid and additives. Any or all of these ingredients may be a single component or may comprise multiple items. Pigment provides colour to paint and also makes paint opaque, and pigment is usually of mineral or organic origin although some pigments are artificially produced. Some pigments possess Iittle or no bulk and must be fixed on a more solid, but at the same time transparent, substance or base. "Prime" pigments provide colour and opacity (opaque coverage). The most common prime pigment is titanium dioxide, which is white and is used in latex and water-based paints. Traditionally, pigments have also added hiding properties to paint. Specialty or extender pigments may also be used and provide bulk to the paint at a low cost. The extender pigments are often chosen for their impact on properties like scrub resistance, stain resistance and chalk resistance. China Clay is frequently used for this purpose. These pigments are added to the paint to provide certain characteristics such as thickness, a certain level of gloss and durability. They are usually naturally occurring products which originally were in the earth and were mined and purified for use in paint. Such pigments as calcium carbonate, talc and clay are, for example, used extensively in paints. Note de contenu : A. Revêtements en phase aqueuse:Peinture en phase aqueuseIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Fluorinated resins are known for high performance, particularly in long term, exterior durability. Fluoroethylene vinyl ether or FEVE resins, a family of fluorinated resins, have a unique alternating copolymer structure allowing them to be dissolved in solvent, as well as emulsified in water for formulating liquid coatings. As environmental initiatives are becoming less compulsory and industry is taking proactive measures to protect the environment, waterborne and high solids paint is ever increasing in demand.
Studies encompass both 1K and 2K formulations and focus on dispersant type, coalescing agents and methods of altering gloss. Results of the many tests that measure critical properties of high performance coatings will be presented. Testing includes water resistance,
chemical resistance, vapeur permeability, solar reflectance properties and mould resistance along with corrosion resistance and accelerated weathering. Formulations based on blends of FEVE resins with other polyols, like acrylic polyols and polyester polyols will also be explored.Note de contenu : - FEVE resin technology

Spectroscopie RamanIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Fourier transform Raman (FTR) spectra of some acrylic latices, rutile titanium dioxide, some common extender pigments, and some acrylic latex paint films were obtained. As expected, all FTR spectra obtained showed considerable differences to their published infrared spectra. It is shown that FTR spectroscopy is excellent for the qualitative analysis of dried acrylic latex paint films and has the added advantages that it is nondestructive and requires no prior sample preparation. Quantitative analysis of extender pigments in dried acrylic latex paint films has also been successful but good quantitative results for titanium dioxide were not obtained. The reason for this is not known. Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=18542
