Breaking down the oxidation of unsaturated oil with hydroxybenzene [phenol] so as to prevent Cr(III) from oxidizing into Cr(VI) has been investigated.
In our previous work PVC sponge was used as a reactant carrier, taking advantage of the sponge's porous character similarly to that of leather. The oleic acid, chrome liquid and various phenols such as pyrocatechin, hydroquinone, gallic acid and pyrogallic-oleic acid were absorbed on to the sponge and then placed in a container at constant temperature and humidity to oxidize. The iodine value, peroxide value of oils and the contents of chrome(VI) were determined at regular intervals. The structural changes of oleic acid were analysed by IR.
The results showed that phenolic compounds had an inhibitory effect on the oxidation of oleic acid and so as to influence the oxidation of Cr(III) into Cr(VI) ; the greater the hydroxyl number of the single ring polyhydroxy phenol, the stronger the inhibitory effect on alpha-H oxidation, and the less formation of Cr(VI). When the hydroxyl numbers of the single ring polyhydroxy phenols were the same, the o-hydroxy phenol had stronger inhibition than p-hydroxy phenol ; meanwhile the structure change of olein acid indicated that Cr(VI) formation was mainly caused by hydroxyl radicals from a series of radical reactions derived from alpha-H autoxidation of oleic acid.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bYQvt56QHJMnuJOCuXGTdGF1c1LCg9uG/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=8309

Langues : Anglais (eng) Tags : 'Coenzyme Q10' 'Peau humaine' 'Péroxydes lipidiques' Antioxydants 'Stratum corneum' Index. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Coenzyme Q10 is an endogenous antioxidant found in the skin along with vitamins A, C and E. Coenzyme Q10 is used
increasingly in cosmetic products and is advertised as a skin energizer, protector against skin aging, skin repairer, and
an anti-wrinkling agent. As the outermost layer of skin, the stratum corneum is the interface between the body and
the environment and requires antioxidants to protect it and the epidermis and dermis below it. Nutrient levels in the
stratum corneum correlate with those in the skin. Two forms of coenzyme Q10 (pure coenzyme Q10 and a yeast-based
coenzyme Q10) were investigated in a commercial vehicle. Two groups of subjects were tested aged 21-29 and 51-70,
respectively. Coenzyme Q10 absorption in the stratum corneum was determined after a 1-hour application and ethanol
extraction. Significantly more yeast coenzyme Q10 was absorbed than the pure coenzyme Q10 and the middle-aged
subjects absorbed about twice as much coenzyme Q10 as did the younger subjects. Skin antioxidants were significantly
increased by yeast coenzyme Q10 but not by pure coenzyme Q10. Peroxides declined in the stratum corneum
after twice daily application of coenzyme Q10 with both forms but the decrease was greater with the yeast form. The
older subjects had significantly higher baseline levels of lipid peroxides than did the younger group, indicating an increase
in skin oxidative damage with age. The yeast coenzyme Q10 is the superior form of coenzyme Q10 for human
skin application.Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=10451

Anti-oxidative effect of CC-516 (IC : 45.4 μg/ml) was lower than butylated hydroxytoluene (IC : 5μg ml), but similar to tocopherol and higher than ascorbic acid. Especially, CC-516 exhibited relatively high free radical scavenging activity (IC : 10.2 μg/ml) compared to control. CC-516 inhibited effectively hyaluronidase activity (IC: : 416 μg/ml), showed inhibition in vivo on delayed hypersensitivity as well as croton-oil induced ear edema in mice when it was topically applied. These results strongly suggest that CC-516 may reduce immunoregulatory/inflammatory skin trouble. Also, from the results, we have elucidated that CC-516 showed anti-allergic and anti-cytotoxicity activity. The whitening effect of CC-516 shown by the inhibition of mushroom tyrosinase activity with IC of 0.48 mg/ml and of melanin synthesis in B16 melanoma cells. This study indicates that CC-516 is effective on anti-inflammatory/anti-melanogenesis, and can be used as a new agent for cosmetics.
