In XRD, the angle of diffraction of X-ray is measured after allowing X-rays to be incident on the material under testing. The distance between layer of atoms (d) then can be calculated using Bragg's equation. Plot of intensity vs d - value gives XRD spectrum. In XRF, X-rays of high wavelength are emitted by the specimen as a result of transition of electrons between orbitals when bombarded by low wavelength X-rays. XRF spectrum is a plot of intensity as a function of either energy or wavelength. XRD & XRF spectra are characteristics of materials and form the basis of their analysis. In coatings XRD is useful in establishing the identity and determining the purity of pigments. The technique is useful for analysis of polymorphic forms in titanium dioxides (rutile and anatase) and copper phthalocyanines (alpha, beta and gamma). XRD has also been used in the determination of identity and amount of pretreatment on metal or in general, crystalline coatings on substrate. XRD also finds use in identifying coating defects. XRF can act as a supporting tool to XRD and can be useful in determination of various elements used in coatings in wider range from ppm to 100%. Both XRD and XRF are useful in coating industry as research, quality control and problem analysis tool. Although these techniques are expensive, their simplicity of operations, speed and ability to give selective information make them a very powerful analytical tool for study of coatings.
Note de contenu : - PRINCIPE D'UNE EXPERIENCE DE CRISTALLOGRAPHIE RESOLUE EN TEMPS : Etude de processus dynamiques irréversibles - Etude de processus dynamiques réversibles

Tags : 'Peinture poudre' Thermoplastique 'Amide 11 polymère' 12 'Vinylique alcool copolymère' acétate 'Ethylène 'Vinylidène fluorure 'Etude expérimentale' 'Calorimétrie différentielle balayage' 'Diffraction RX' 'Traitement thermique' Trempe Recuit 'Propriété mécanique' Feuil Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : This study examines thermoplastic polyamide 11, nylon 12, ethylenevinylacetate/vinylalcohol copolymer, poly (vinylidene fluoride), and polyester powder coatings via differential scanning calorimetry and wide angle x-ray diffraction studies to quantify annealing and quenching effects. As a part of this study, panels were coated and cured at 250°C for 5 min. Cooling was affected by either rapid quenching or controlled annealing. The thermal, mechanical, and x-ray diffraction analysis data indicate no significant property changes on quenching or annealing the thermoplastic coatings with the exception of the highly crystalline poly (vinylidene fluoride) coating. Annealing the latter coating reduced impact resistance and flexibility. These findings are consistent with earlier results in which no major stress development was observed in quenched thermosetting powder coatings, yet annealing increased crosslink density and diminished mechanical properties. Langues : Anglais (eng) Tags : Céramides FTIR 'Organisation lipidique' 'Stratum corneum' 'Diffraction rayons X' Index. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : The primary function of the skin is to act as a barrier against unwanted influences from the environment and to protect the body from water loss. The barrier function of the skin is located in the superficial layer of the skin, the stratum corneum. The stratum corneum consists of dead cells filled with keratin and water, the corneocytes, embedded in lipid regions. As the lipid regions are the only continuous structure in the stratum corneum, they are considered to be very important for the skin barrier function. The main lipid classes are ceramides, cholesterol and free fatty acids. In this paper the lipid organization in human stratum corneum is reviewed. In addition, the role the various lipid classes play in lipid organization is discussed using mixtures prepared from either native human ceramides or synthetic ceramides. Finally, a model is described which allows study of the relation between lipid composition, organization and barrier function. This model is referred to as the stratum corneum substitute.
