Large-scale production and low-cost photocatalyst C3N4-TiO2(B) can be perfectly compounded with ABSP, realizing the possibility of engineering application. SEM and AFM analysis showed that the C3N4-TiO2(B) particles were firmly embedded in the coating, but serious agglomeration appeared when the content of the photocatalyst exceeds 7 wt%. The hydrophilic nanoparticles can accelerate the hydrolysis and adjust the self-polishing rates of the polymer matrix to repel bacteria and algae. When the content of C3N4-TiO2(B) was in the range of 5–7 wt%, the CTNCs displayed better resistance to Nitzschia closterium, Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli than the coating containing pure C3N4, and the anti-bacterial rates towards S. aureus and E. coli can reach 99.72% and 98.96%. Characterisation of the experimental resins in respect of physical properties was carried out using instruments namely vapour pressure osmometer, rotational viscometer, universal tensile testing instrument (Instron 1123) and differential scanning calorimeter. Performance of the resins was evaluated using fluorescent UV accelerated weatherometer and multi-head glossmeter. The results reveal substantial improvement in drying and weather resistance properties of castor oil alkyd on graft copolymerisation with both, methyl methacrylate and butyl methacrylate. The improvement in these properties is marginally superior in case of MMA grafted alkyds. MMA modification also enhances the mechanical properties of the grafted castor oil alkyd. Revêtement monocoucheIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Protecting expensive machinery from corrosion is crucial and a key feature to extend their useful service life. However, processes that offer complete corrosion protection, such as cathodic dip coating, prove complex for large structures produced in small numbers, especially regarding size of the bath and cost of coating material. Researchers are exploring ways to replace welding with structural bonding of already coated construction modules. Note de contenu : - Adhesive bonding to avoid damage to coating

Revêtements -- Séchage sous rayonnement ultravioletIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Direct-to-Metal (DTM) applications require reactive materials having the correct balance of physical properties including both flexibility and toughness. These features are necessary to ensure that the finished part will withstand the rigors of forming and process handling with scuffing and surface abrasion. Also the final coating must adhere to a wide variety of metal types that may have surface contamination that make adhesion a challenge.
This work will investigate and report the performance results of acrylated monomers and oligomers when subjected to typical end-use tests designed to measure the flexibility and adhesion characteristics of coatings. Oligomers having adhesion promoting characteristics will be tested alone or in combination with monomeric acid functional adhesion promoters to determine thebest type of oligomer to use for a given substrate.
Also the correct level of addition of the adhesion promoters will be determined to obtain optimum performance results. In addition moisture resistance will be explored as it relates to oligomer type.
Another significant development in the can manufacturing industry has involved the elimination of Bisphenol A (BPA) from coatings that are intended for food packaging applications. The performance benefits of polyester acrylate oligomers will be highlighted compared and contrasted to those of Bis A epoxy acrylate oligomer. Each of the formulations used in this study are in fact BPA free.Note de contenu : - Application and cure conditions
