This article is focussing on the behaviour at rest. The conventional methods are discussed : shear rate controlled or shear stress controlled rotational tests, in which the shear rate or shear stress increases in the form of a ramp to determine the apparent yield point. Another method is described to reveal the elastic behaviour of the sample below the yield stress according to Hooke's elasticity law. Further rheological information can be obtained using oscillatory tests. They should be selected to evaluate the viscoelastic character of measuring samples at rest. Note de contenu : 1. Rotational Tests : Apparent Yield Point (YP) via flow curves - Yield Point between the elastic and viscous range
2. Oscillatory tests : Amplitude Sweep(AS) - Frequency Sweep (FS)

TopographieIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Periodic wavy patterns emerge and align in a transverse direction once a viscous fluid is coated onto a surface moving above a critical speed. In this study, we examine how this flow instability, which is usually referred to as ribbing, is triggered or damped on a moving topographic surface. To examine the transient flow behavior, the liquid first came into contact with a smooth surface, followed by a downstream surface with small-scale V-shaped grooves. Flow visualizations revealed a topography-induced flow stabilization and a matching of rib frequencies with the underlying groove patterns, depending on the groove geometry and capillary number. Titre : Ring opening opens the path to easier-to-use polyureas : Novel ways of making polyurea coatings simplify their use Type de document : texte imprimé Année de publication : 2010 Article en page(s) : p. 24-27 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Polyurée
RevêtementsIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Polyurea coatings are now becoming the performance standard in their field across the coatings industry. However, use of these coatings is often limited either by chemical hazard issues, the high reactivity of the isocyanate-amine reaction or the low reactivity of the aliphatic variants. A novel reaction pathway forms the basis for homogeneous or heterogeneous coatings prepared from low-hazard, single or multi-pack formulations which react in situ without the need for complex process equipment. Note de contenu : - Two factors control the difference in the reaction rate.
- "Interbranch" polymer structures enable adding of functionality.
- Good physical, environmental and adhesive properties.
- Solutions with protective and decorative functions possible.

When the REACH regulations were introduced in 2007 – to protect human health and the environment from the use of chemicals – Indestructible Paint anticipated future issues for chrome (CrVI), which is a core component in one of the company’s high-performance diffusion coatings, IP1041 (known commercially as Ipal).
Diffusion coatings are formulated with aluminium and silicone powders carried in an inorganic acidic binder comprising a blend of chromium trioxide (chromic acid) and phosphoric acid, with a small percentage of magnesium salts. They are used in the hot gas path of turbine engines – particularly industrial and marine engines – as their resistance to temperatures up to and above 1,000°C and to oxidation in sour gas atmospheres are essential to long-term durability. Diffusion coatings are also required to provide long-term resistance in high SOx atmospheres.
Diffusion happens during processing where components are exposed to temperatures typically greater than 865°C in an inert atmosphere. Under this treatment, the aluminium and silicone, together with metal ions within the substrate, diffuse together. Once all the aluminium and silicone from the coating are consumed, the temperature drops, and the metallic structure is ‘frozen’. The carrier binder – no longer part of the coating structure, forms on the surface of the diffusion layer as a bisque – which is removed by light burnishing under a humid atmosphere.
Indestructible Paint began a challenging and extensive project to develop a resilient, chrome-free coating that would maintain the required performance. After ten years of research, development and testing, the solution – which the company named CFIpal – has been successfully developed. The chrome-free coating is now market ready and already approved by a major engine manufacturer.Note de contenu : - DEVELOPING A CHROME-FREE DIFFUSION COATINGS : Phase 1 : Development - Phase 2 : Laboratory testing - Phase 3 : Application trials En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UXQ2C3lUQoWIhfaKad94iCYkHMA63QSF/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=39296
