How to prepare galvanizing for painting / E. Bud Senkowski in JOURNAL OF PROTECTIVE COATINGS & LININGS (JPCL), Vol. 33, N° 11 (11/2016)
[article]

ZincIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Galvanizing presents many challenges to painting operations. While the zinc coating can add substantial life to steel surfaces, its surface chemistry and electrochemical activity can result in conditions leading to adhesion failures of applied organic coatings. The key to successful painting lies in recognizing the many surface conditions presented by new and weathered galvanizing and then employing effective cleaning operations to mitigate their effect. Success is ultimately achieved by selecting coating products that will develop a strong and enduring bond to the galvanized surface. Note de contenu : - WHAT IS GALVANIZING ?

ZincIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : The author discusses the importance of multifunctionals in preservative systems, helping to achieve a win-win for consumer and manufacturer.
"Nowadays it must be hard to be a preservative. Every formulator needs you but no one wants you". says Dr Carsten Dietz, technical expert in sustainable preserving systems. Over the past decade, preservatives have been the subject of much controversial discussion and thus came to the attention of the public : many magazines and rating sites started talking about this contentious topic.Note de contenu : - To improve preserving systems the usage of multifunctionals is strongly recommended : Organic acids - Alcohols, diols and polyols - Natural extracts and essential oils

ZincIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : As the worldwide bridge inventory continues to age, the manufacturers of high performance protective coatings have developed three and two coat systems based on zinc primers and polyaspartic, polyurethane or polysiloxane finish coats. The finish coats have more history in three-coat systems than in two-coat systems but are proving their effectiveness in both type of systems.
Accelerated laboratory test procedures currently available allow the industry to provide owners a comparison of bridge systems used in yesteryear with innovative, present-day high-performance systems.
Overcoating is a viable bridge painting option to give long-term corrosion protection. the best overcoat systems are those based on HRCSA technology.Note de contenu : - Coating technology for bridges
