Séparation (technologie)Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Recent years have witnessed a growing interest in the technology of nano-materials. Numerous studies have been carried out on the synthesis and modification of nanometersized polymeric materials based on nanofillers. Meanwhile, tannery plants are faced with a serious problem of the utilization of effluents from the processes of leather dressing. The most serious problem is the wastewater from so-called beamhouse or the operations of soaking, depilation and liming.
Despite the implementation of technology with reduced water consumption, the effluents still amount to about 80% of wastewater from all the manufacturing processes.1 Most tanneries use the liming process to unhair hides by destroying the hair structure. The process has a low chemicals cost, good reproducibility of results and easy control of the process.
2. The effluents from the liming process contain two groups of impurities :
Organic pollutants, mainly products of degradation of non-collagen proteins, proteins of hair, bristle and epidermis as well as fatty substances.
Inorganic impurities, mainly lime and calcium compounds, residual chlorides from preservation, sodium sulfide and sulfates.Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL METHODS : Use as rubber filler

Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : The use of nano composites in elastomer blends gives outstanding mechanical properties compared to the use of micro and macro composites, even with very low nano filler content. In this paper, we studied the influence of varying proportions of natural rubber (NR) and acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) reinforced with nano silica on the mechanical and thermal characteristics of the rubber. Mechanical characterizations were carried out with hardness, tensile strength, elongation at break, tear strength, modulus and toughness. For thermal analyses, we used differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA). In most cases, the increase in the percentage of NBR with the presence of nano silica enhances hardness, modulus and toughness, however, it reduces tensile strength, tear strength and elongation at break. It was found that nano silica has a catalytic effect on the mixture, and NBR has a catalytic effect on the decomposition of NR. VerreIndex. décimale : 668.9 Polymères Résumé : Solid particulate fillers usually increase both the Young's modulus and the density of polymers. The incorporation of hollow glass microspheres into polymers enables a better balance between mechanical properties and density, combined with benefits in terms of processing and surface quality. These hollow microspheres are capable of improving the flow characteristics of a polymer in the mould, and reduce mould shrinkage. These properties of hollow microspheres can be well utilized in NBR based rubber compounds, which are used as thermal insulation systems for protection of solid rocket motor case from high temperature combustion gases. Insulators with low density are of immense use in aerospace applications, since they enhance payload capability and reduce mission cost. Attempts are made to reduce density of elastomer compounds by incorporating these hollow glass microspheres. The effects of process conditions, level of microspheres and treatment with liquid polymer on density have been discussed Changes in density of the NBR correlated with extent of the break down of hollow microspheres have been brought out. This article also emphasizes the changes in the mechanical properties and thermal properties in NBR insulation system after the incorporation of these microspheres.
