Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Macro-textured metal inserts were successfully integrated in a one-step thermo-stamping/overmoulding process to yield highly structural assemblies. The technology, which has the potential for mass-produced applications in the automotive industry, was demonstrated by the LIMECO partners on a composite seat backrest side flange with an integrated steel recliner mechanism. LIMECO (Links Metal Composites) is a collaborative project of the IRT Jules Verne. Note de contenu : - Macro-texturing of metal inserts

ThermodurcissablesIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : This paper describes the development of thermoformed composite stringers with an 80 % improvement in crushing strength relative to basic thermoformed composite stringers.
The strength improvement is achieved through controlled migration of material within the stringer to produce variable-thickness corners. This novel, patent-pending technique enables weight and/or cost savings for stringers size by crushing loads.Note de contenu : - THERMOFORMED STRINGERS FOR RIB-STIFFENED STRUCTURES

Procédés de fabricationIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Automation, production rates and cost are key words when it comes to developing the production of composites in never-before-achieved volumes. Of course, these words bring to mind the injection process. However, although long fibre thermoplastic (LFT) compounds have contributed real progress in terms of mechanical performance, some heavily filled parts require continuous fibres, and complex part geometry is often an additional constraint. One technology that appears to satisfy these restrictive constraints is the overmoulding or organo-sheets. Here is a review of the technology and the players involved.
