TriéthylamineIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : For several years now wateborne coatings have gained acceptance as alternatives to solventborne coatings. For light duty and industrial maintenance coatings for metal, water reducible alkyds and water dispersible alkyds are acceptable alternatives to solvent-based alkyds. Water-dispersible alkyds are made dispersible by neutralizing the acid moieties of the alkyd with ammonia or water soluble amines such as triehylamine. Water reducible and dispersible alkyds (to a lesser extent) are susceptible to hydrolysis and furthermore destabilization by basic multivalent cations such as those found in corrosion inhibiting pigments. The hydrolytic instability translates to limited storage time. This paper highlights research to develop corrosion inhibitors for both types of waterborne alkyds and adresses strategies to overcome stability problems inherent in these systems.
• limiter le fluage ;
• limiter le taux de matières volatiles ;

Tannage Résumé : A collagen-based waterborne polyurethane retanning agent was prepared by prepolymerization, using isophorone diisocyanate polytetramethylene ether glycol (PTMG, Mn-2000), 1, 4-butanediol (BDO), dimethylol propionic acid (DMPA) and triethylamine (TEA), the collagen powder was added during the synthesis to modify the waterborne polyurethane. The collagen-based waterborne polyurethane was characterised via Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-1R) and size analysis, the results showed that the collagen was grafted onto the main chain of polyurethane, the emulsion had a.uniform particle size distribution, the average particle size was 70nm. The prepared emulsion was used in retanning, the application result showed that the collagen-based waterborne polyurethane retanning agent had a good affect for leather filling, especially in the belly. The shrinkage temperature, tensile strength and tear resistance were all raised. The retannage can also help to overcome the question of pastel shades. The generated salt groups act as internal dispersants, stabilising the emulsions - 3. TEA labeling - 4. The results for the online monitoring of triethylamine (TEA) emissions in ambient air, originated from a 100 µm paint film based on a commercially available urethanised alkyd dispersion for DSM. The blue curve represents the TEA concentration in the air chamber over time = t. The red curve represents the cumulative amount of TEA emitted (in mg) - 5. Results of monitoring triethylamine (TEA) emissions in ambient air, originated from a 50 µm polyurethane film based on three commercially availagle urethanised alkyd dispersions and four corresponding commercial paints. The curves represent the collected TEA in the air chamber over time = t - 6. Calculated VOC content of a physically drying parquet lacquer based on a commercial polyurethane dispersion. Initial concentration of the co-solvents is much higher compared with the volatile amine. R values of measurements at 3, 7 and 28 days, according to AgBB emission testing on this lacquer. Triethylamine contributes to 80-90 % on the calculated R-value because of its low LCI value - 7.
