VulcanisationIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : BPR (brominated tert octyl phenolic resin) vulcanization system is one of the commonly used systems for CIIR (chloride butyl rubber). In the vulcanization process, there are two competitive reactions, the cross-linking reaction and the self-poly-condensation reaction of BPR. In this vulcanization system, the metal oxide, as vulcanization active agent, have a greater impact on the kinetics of these two competing reaction. The kinetics equation of overall reaction (including the two competitive reactions) and the BPR self-poly-condensation reaction with different amount of ZnO or MgO were obtained by non-isothermal DSC method. The results showed that ZnO would promote the overall reaction and the BPR self-poly-condensation reaction at lower dosage, the rate constant of overall reaction increased faster than BPR self-poly-condensation reaction rate constant with the increasing of the ZnO content, and when the ZnO content exceeded 7.5phr, the rate constant of BPR self-poly-condensation reaction decreased; With the increasing of the MgO content, the rate constant of overall reaction and BPR self-poly-condensation reaction reduced, and the rate constant of self-poly-condensation reaction reduced much faster than the rate constant of the overall reaction when the content of MgO changed from 0.5 to 0.75. The cross-linking density was measured by the equilibrium swelling method. The results showed that with the increasing of ZnO content, the cross-linking density increased when it was less than 10 phr, and decreased when the ZnO content exceeded 10 phr. With the increasing of MgO content, the cross-linking density increased when it was less than 0.75 phr, and decreased when the MgO content exceeded 0.75 phr. The mechanical properties and the dynamic mechanical properties were investigated by the universal testing machine and the dynamic mechanical performance analysis (DMA), respectively. The results showed that the ZnO and MgO content had a great impact on the mechanical properties and the dynamic mechanical properties, and the variation trend of the cross-linking density was further confirmed by the corresponding variation of the properties. Polyfluorure de vinylidèneIndex. décimale : 668.9 Polymères Résumé : Two types of low-density polyethylene (LDPE), five types of high-density polyethylene (HDPE), poly(vinyl fluoride) (PVF) and poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) were studied. The fluorination of LDPE and HDPE is a diffusion-controlled process and proceeds via a branched chain mechanism following an induction period. Initiation of the reaction takes place via the reaction of molecular fluorine with the C-H bond. The rate of fluorination of HDPE exceeds that of LDPE. PVDF cannot be fluorinated even at temperatures as high as 430K and/or under UV irradiation. The kinetics associated with the formation and termination of peroxy RO •2 and fluorocarbon long-lifetime radicals was studied. It is mainly middle peroxy radicals that are formed at treatment conditions close to those used in industrial processes. Note de contenu : - INTRODUCTION : Materials - Experimental

Titre : The redox reaction between catechin and potassium dichromate - Influences and its kinetic character Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Wang Ying Hong, Auteur ; Wuyong Chen, Auteur ; Huang Zan, Auteur ; Li Lixin, Auteur Année de publication : 2005 Article en page(s) : p. 15-17 Note générale : Bibliogr.

PolyphénolsIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Plant polyphenols can be used as reducing agents to prepare chrome tanning agents. The kinetics of the reaction between catechin, the precursor of condensed plant polyphenols, and dichromate play an important role in the study of this preparation. The factors which influence the redox between catechin and dichromate and its kinetic character were investigated under different conditions by spectrophotometry. The results show that redox may mainly be achieved in the first minute of the reaction. In this reaction, the concentration of catechin, solution acidity and reaction temperature are the main influences on the reaction rate. At 25°C the reaction rate equation may be expressed as follows. Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURE : Materials - Equipment - Procedure

ThermogravimétrieIndex. décimale : 675.2 Préparation du cuir naturel. Tannage Résumé : The effects of in-situ precipitated calcium carbonate (CaCO3) on the thermal stability and decomposition kinetics of vegetable-tanned collagen fiber (VCF) are evaluated by thermogravimetry. The kinetic and mechanism analysis of the decomposition stage use an integrated procedure involving model-free methods and master-plots method. Various methods are employed to calculate the activation energy of the fibers. It is shown that VCF/CaCO3 exhibits better thermal stability than VCF in the range 22-350°C. However, thermogravimetric results also show that the presence of CaCO3 accelerates the decomposition process at higher temperatures. When the conversion values are below 0.4, the most probable decomposition mechanism for VCF and VCF/CaCO3 is random nucleation and nuclei growth (Avrami, equation A2). Above 0.4, the decomposition mechanisms of VCF and VCF/CaCO3 are most probably described by third (F3) and second (F2) order models, respectively. Morphological/elemental analysis showed calcium dispersed evenly over the VCF/CaCO3. Note de contenu : - THEORETICAL BACKGROUND : Kinetic methods - Model-free methods - Master-plots method

ThermochimieIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : The adsorption behaviour of the natural dye cochineal on polyamide 66 was studied at different pH values. The thermodynamic and kinetic parameters such as standard affinity (−Δμ˚), changes in enthalpy (ΔH˚) and entropy (ΔS˚), diffusion coefficient and activation energy of the diffusion, were determined for pH values of 3 and 6. Results indicated that the experimental data fitted appropriately with the Nernst isotherm. Furthermore, the partitioning ratio and −Δμ˚ decreased significantly with increasing temperature, and it was revealed that the adsorption of cochineal onto polyamide was an exothermic process. The −Δμ˚ value of polyamide dyed at pH 3 was higher than that dyed at pH 6. This is related to higher numbers of electrostatic and non‐electrostatic interactions between cochineal and polyamide at pH 3, whereas at pH 6 non‐electrostatic hydrophobic interactions between cochineal and polyamide are dominant. At pH 6 comparatively higher negative values for ΔH˚ and ΔS˚ were obtained. The diffusion coefficient increased with rises in temperature. The polyamide dyed at pH 3 had a higher diffusion coefficient at every temperature than the polyamide dyed at pH 6. The dyeing rate for polyamide at pH 3 was higher than at pH 6 and reached equilibrium in a shorter time. Furthermore, a lower activation energy of diffusion was obtained at pH 3 compared to pH 6.
