Owing to its unique potential for fast production rates, and capacity of creating complex shapes, the number of researches on AM techniques have increased day by day in the technical literature. In this work, contrary to common literature efforts focused on mechanical properties, friction and wear behaviors of additively manufactured PETG samples were analyzed experimentally. As a methodology, fused filament fabrication (FFF) was selected. In order to explore the influence of manufacturing factors on wear properties, layer thickness (0.1, 0.2, and 0.3 mm), infill rate (40, 60, 80, and 100%), and building direction (vertical and horizontal) were changed. Before the friction tests, dimensional accuracy, hardness, and surface roughness measurements were conducted to interpret better the wear results. In addition, macroscopic and microscopic inspections were performed to determine the correct reason behind the deformation. From the data collected during the tests, there was a positive interaction between volume loss and layer thickness. Besides, there was no direct interaction between infill rate/building direction and coefficient of friction. In comparison with vertically built samples, horizontally built samples were subjected to more plastic deformation, and their worn surfaces were severely damaged. Titre : Analysis and optimization of FFF process parameters to enhance the mechanical properties of 3D printed PLA products Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Tesfaye Mengesha Medibew, Auteur ; Addisu Negash Ali, Auteur Année de publication : 2023 Article en page(s) : p. 61-76 Note générale : Bibliogr.

Surfaces de réponse (statistique)Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : In this work, the combined effects of fused filament fabrication (FFF) process parameters on the mechanical properties of 3D printed PLA products have been determined by focusing on the tensile strength at R 2 (97.29%). ASTM D638 test standard is used for the preparation of specimens for tensile tests. The optimization technique has been used to determine the optimal combinations of FFF process parameters for the validation of experimental tensile tests and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations. From the results obtained the optimum cooling fan speed of 79.3%, extrusion temperature of 214.4 °C, printing speed of 75.9 mm/s, raster width of 0.4814 mm, and shell number 5 were determined with a 2.266% error of the tensile strength (45.06 MPa). SEM morphology examination shows that the fabricated part cooled at 80% cooling fan speed illustrates good inter-layer bond strength which is also confirmed by CFD temperature distributions analysis.

RevêtementsIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : It has long been known that Lotus Leaves are super-hydrophobic.
But the mechanism of super-hydrophobicity wasn't understood until the 1970s before the introduction of scanning electron microscopes. In case of lotus leaf which has nano rod-like protrusions, so tiny that they reduce its surface adhesion and encourage liquids to ball up and roll off. The underlying principle has been trademarked as the Lotus-Effect.
The self-cleaning property of ultra-hydrophobic micro-nano-structured surfaces was studied by Barthlott and Ehler in 1977, who described such self-cleaning and ultra-hydrophobic properties for the first time as the "lotus effect".
In-depth understanding of super-hydrophobicity requires the examination of the relationship between the surface energy and the surface roughness and the wet-ability of the surface. The most basic equation is the Young's equation. Derivation of the Young's equation starts with the consideration of the sessile drop on an ideal, rigid homogeneous, flat and inert surface. When a liquid is dropped on a sol id substrate there exists a three phase contact line where the air, liquid and solid connects each other.Note de contenu : - COLLOIDAL ASSEMBLIES
