Teinture -- Fibres textilesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : In order to develop an eco-friendly method for silk reactive dyeing that uses a lower accelerant dosage to achieve a higher dye fixation, hexyl dimethyl octyl ammonium chloride was synthesised as an accelerant for the dyeing of silk with reactive dyes. The accelerating effect, corresponding adsorption kinetics, and interaction mechanisms among hexyl dimethyl octyl ammonium chloride, reactive dyes, and silk were investigated. At hexyl dimethyl octyl ammonium chloride concentrations of 10.8–14.4 mm, the dye fixations for three reactive dyes were much higher than those achieved with sodium sulfate, even though the required dosages of hexyl dimethyl octyl ammonium chloride were 30–40 times lower than those of sodium sulfate. The wash fastness, rub fastness, light fastness, K/S, and colour difference values after dyeing with hexyl dimethyl octyl ammonium chloride were similar to those obtained using sodium sulfate, and silk can be dyed uniformly. The adsorption kinetics followed a second-order kinetic model. The activation energies of surface adsorption for the three reactive dyes were lower than those of sodium sulfate. The high fixation of reactive dyestuffs and the low required dosage of hexyl dimethyl octyl ammonium chloride demonstrate that the use of this new accelerant provides a novel, highly efficient method for silk dyeing. A possible acceleration mechanism of hexyl dimethyl octyl ammonium chloride for reactive dyes adsorbed on the surface of silk was proposed, based on a series of activation parameters of the adsorption process. Cuirs et peaux -- Teinture
Cuirs et peaux de ChamoisIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Undoubtedly, the leather dyeing industry is striving to obtain better fastness properties in dyeing. Highest fastness properties are demanded of glove and clothing suede leather. For these good wash and solvent fastness properties are desired. But requirements for light, water and perspiration fastness are also of considerable importance.
As chamois tannages are stable to alkali, and also washable, they recently have found use for the manufacture of fashionable dress goods.
Reactive dyestuffs with a vinyl sulphone group (which include the Remazol dyestuffs) make comparatively high fastness properties on chamois leather possible, which to a very far degree fulfil the fastness demands mentioned in the above. Amongst other dyestuffs that are used for the dyeing of chamois leather are sulphur dyestuffs and anthrasol dyestuffs, which give dyeings with good light and wash fastness. With sulphur dyestuffs, however, the dyeings to be obtained are rather dull in shade. Anthrasol dyestuffs have extremely high prices.
When dyeing with these dyestuffgroups they must be made water soluble or in the case of anthrasol dyestuffs are already available in the water soluble form, which is absorbed by the leather and then irreversibly transformed into an insoluble dyestuff, which is very wet fast. When using Azoic Naphtol AS compounds in combination with Azanil or fast colour salts the dyeing process is similar. When using reactive dyestuffs a genuine chemical linkage between dyestuff and collagen takes place, which is responsible for the fastness properties.
Chamois tanned suede leather is one of the few kinds of leather that are stable to washing and mild alkalis. It is therefore possible to dye in alkaline liquors and to use vinyl sulphone dyestuffs, which are dyed from such liquors.Note de contenu : - The vinyl sulphone dyestuffs

Textiles et tissus -- LavageIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : A chitosan/gelatin composite microsphere (CGMS) adsorbent prepared by inverse suspension was used as a reactive dye washing agent. Techniques such as scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis, and atomic force microscopy facilitated the evaluation of the materials. A series of experiments were conducted to assess the effect of variables, i.e. initial pH, temperature, microsphere dosage, and contact time. The wash-off effectiveness increased with increase in temperature and decrease in pH. Results obtained from this study showed that it was possible to reduce the number of wash-off stages and the water consumption. Furthermore, the microspheres had the properties of resistance to hard water and electrolyte as a wash-off agent. The efficiency of the microspheres can rival routine detergent in colour fastness, while the chemical oxygen demand of the wash-off residue of the microspheres amounted to about 1/10 of the chemical oxygen demand of detergent wash-off residue. This research proved that chitosan/gelatin composite microspheres are a potential candidate for use as an adsorbent washing agent for reactive dyes.

Traîtements de surfaceIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Pineapple leaf fibres were modified with cationic modifier GX-H23 and dodecyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride (surfactant 1227) to change their surface electric properties. After modification, the pineapple leaf fibres were dyed separately with CI Reactive Red 15 under traditional and salt-free dyeing conditions. Based on dye uptake analysis, the influence of different modification and dyeing conditions on the dyeing properties of pineapple leaf fibres were evaluated. The results showed that the modified pineapple leaf fibres under salt-free dyeing conditions exhibited superior dye uptake, especially when the cationic modifier GX-H23 was used. The optimum parameters for modification with surfactant 1227 were: 15 g/l of surfactant 1227, 10 g/l of sodium hydroxide, and 90 °C for 30 min; the optimum parameters for modification with cationic modifier GX-H23 were: 15 g/l of cationic modifier GX-H23, 20 g/l of sodium hydroxide, and 60 °C for 40 min. UltrasonsIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : In the present study, Fenton and sono-Fenton processes were applied to the oxidative decolorisation of synthetic textile wastewater including CI Reactive Orange 127 and polyvinyl alcohol. Process optimisation [pH, ferrous ion (Fe2+) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)], kinetic studies and their comparison were carried out for both of the processes. The sono-Fenton process was performed by indirect sonication in an ultrasonic water bath, which was operated at a fixed 35-kHz frequency and 80 W power. The optimum conditions were determined as [Fe2+] = 20 mg l−1, [H2O2] = 15 mg l−1 and pH = 3 for the Fenton process and [Fe2+] = 25 mg l−1, [H2O2] = 5 mg l−1 and pH = 3 for the sono-Fenton process. The colour removals were 89.9% and 91.8% by the Fenton and sono-Fenton processes, respectively. The highest decolorisation was achieved by the sono-Fenton process because of the production of some oxidising agents as a result of sonication. Consequently, ultrasonic irradiation in the sono-Fenton process slightly increased the colour removal to 91.8%, while decreasing the hydrogen peroxide dosage to one-third of that of the Fenton process.
