Tests cutanésIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : In the coming years, beauty biotechnology is likely to gain in importance, driven by concerns, particularly among younger generations, about the environment and limited natural resources. To this end, DSM is launching a new cosmetic grade of PDO (1.3-Propanediol) in partnership with the biochemistry company METEX NØØVISTA. The product, TILAMAR® PDO with NØØVISTAâ„¢, has a fully sustainable production process and its multifunctional properties and much in-demand skin microbiome friendliness have been demonstrated in clinical studies which are described in this article. It therefore offers manufacturers a way to reduce the complexity of their cosmetics formulations to meet the growing consumer demand for sustainable but high-performance personal care products that are also seen as a clean option. Tack à la boucle (test)Index. décimale : 668.3 Adhésifs et produits semblables Résumé : Tackifiers are readily accepted as a vital component in the formulation of optimum performance adhesives. Eka Chemicals has recently developed a new series of Snowtack[TM] tackifier dispersions for water-based pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs) that have improved cohesive strength. The water-based segment has shown the strongest growth in the last 15 years compared to hot melt and solvent PSAs. This was initially due to lower costs, reduced flammability and environmental considerations. Continued growth has been due, in part, to the development of polymer and tackifier dispersions that meet today's technology requirements for coating, converting and performance.
The key stages in the production of a water-based PSA label are as follows :
- Compounding - the blending of the tackifier, polymer and other additives, such as defoamers and wetting agents;
- The resultant adhesive is pumped to the coater, where the coating head could be one of many configurations but is predominantly slot die or reverse gravure;
- The adhesive is applied to the carrier and passed through drying ovens at speeds of up to 500 m/min;
- The dried adhesive is laminated and wound as master rolls; and
- These rolls are subsequently slit into smaller rolls prior to die cutting of the label shape and design printing.Note de contenu : - Polymer
