The samples were loaded with a variety of loading histories. The histories were selected to examine the dependency of fracture energy on loading rate, loading level, time under load, and recovery after loading. The results suggest that unless the load levels are a substantial fraction of the failure load, the loading history has little effect, at least for the time scales studied here. When the loads are high, however, the time under load becomes important and produces significant increases in toughness. If the sample is unloaded and allowed to recover, some but all of the additional toughness is lost. These results are consistent with a viscoelastic toughening mechanism and can be qualitatively explained with sample crack-tip blunting model.
(Wikipedia)

Revêtements antisalissures:Peinture antisalissuresIndex. décimale : 667.6 Peintures Résumé : The increasing demand for more sustainable products has been driving research efforts in academia and industry to develop nove) coatings solutions. In recent years, bio-renewable based materials have been increasingly explored as a promising replacement for petroleum-based ones used as building blocks for polymers. This trend is mainly driven by the increasing awareness and directives for the sustainable development of polymeric materials, including coatings. The lower carbon footprint compared to their petroleum counterparts and depleting known resources of petroleum makes bio-renewable materials very important for future development. In the world of coatings, the idea has already made its debut in the form of environment friendly technologies-low or no solvent, high solids, hyperbranched, water borne and UV curable coatings, utilising monomers/polymers derived from renewable resources. However, it is very important to meticulously design polymers based on bio-renewable building blocks by leveraging their unique chemistry and functionality, to meet the demanding requirements of the final products at acceptable costs. This paper aims at exploring opportun ities for developing resins or coatings that incorporate elements of sustainability in their design by utilizing green materials or processes white offering desired performance in a variety of applications. Réticulation (polymérisation)Index. décimale : 668.3 Adhésifs et produits semblables Résumé : RADIATION CURING of hot melt pressure sensitive adhesive (HMPSA) coatings with UV light belongs to the most environmentally friendly adhesive technologies. Its advantages are primarily the high material, energy and workspace preservation process as well as the complete elimination of solvents.
In the past, the range of UV curable HMPSA products was rather limited, but a significantly broad selection of adhesives with new applications is available due to new raw materials.
These new UV curable HMPSAs tailored by the formulator have well defined characteristics. New products with designed-in properties are available which were unthinkable in the past, such as offering a combination of excellent peel values and high cohesion properties; outstanding resistance to high humidity and temperatures; and improved resistance against plasticizers.
Apart from the presentation of novel products, practical and illustrative examples for the self adhesive rape sector will be discussed.Note de contenu : - Crosslinking with UV light
