Pigments métalliquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : OAPM pigments are highly effective nontoxic corrosion inhibitors for paints. They offer oerfirlance advantages over zinc phosphates and modified phosphates at considerably lower loadings, thus making them very cost effective. They also offer equivalent performance to chromates without any toxicity concerns for the protection of non ferrous metals. They are environmentally friendly as they contain no heavy metals and are not subject to any regulatory labelling. They are also eco-friendly as the main raw material is extracted from the dead sea, a naturally renewing resource. The pigments have been pre-registered for REACH, are available commercially and in fact have already found use in many paint systems in Europe, Asia and South America. Note de contenu : - Chemistry

Revêtements -- AnalyseIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The colour travel or "flip-flop" effect of 120 European OEM silver car colour shades from different manufacturers between 1950 and 2010 was analysed, and the type of aluminium flake was also investigated. The relationship between accepted flop indexes, the measured metallic 'travel' and graininess were compared with the aim of defining 'liquid metal' effects. Note de contenu : - How metallic effects can be defined numerically
- Properties of established flop index
- Technology changes have created higher flop levels
- How grain or texture can be analysed numerically
- Overview 1950-2010
- Liquid metal appearance quantified
- Microscopic pictures clarify some details of effects

Stabilité au stockageIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : An alkyd emulsion for industrial maintenance primer coats has been developed with high renewable content and very low formulation VOC. The use of a highly hydrophobic polymer offsets the harmful effects of added surfactants, while the latter act to enhance stability against hydrolysis. Note de contenu : - The nature and composition of alkyds
- Design considerations for anticorrosive primers
- How the test alkyd emulsions were made
- Primer production and test procedures
- Initial formulations fail critical tests
- Increasing hydrophibicity improves performance
- Anticorrosive pigments compared in further tests
- High storage stability predicted and confirmed

Pigments métalliquesIndex. décimale : 667.2 Colorants et pigments Résumé : With annual consumption of around one million tonnes,
synthetic iron oxides are the most important group of inorganic colour pigments. Although these products have been successfully used for many years to colour a wide range of materials, the mechanisms which give rise to their colours have not been described sufficiently to date. In the case of inorganic pigments, colouration is commonly produced by a combination of light absorption and diffusion in the visible spectral range.Note de contenu : - TESTS ON IROXIDE RED PIGMENTS : characterisation of the pigments - Structural features of the hematite lattice - Lattice absorption and colouring
