SpécificationsIndex. décimale : 677 Textiles Résumé : The UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) value of fabric sample depends on several parameters which are weight, count, cover factor, weave, nature of fiber, picks/inch, ends/inch, elastic recovery, moisture and wetting properties. Out of these, the nature of fiber, picks/inch, ends/inch are having big influence on the UPF value of the sample. In this study it was revealed that blending small percentage of polyester (PET) in cotton, improves the UPF values manifold. The correct balance of picks/inch, ends/inch and count in the fabric produce optimum shrinkage during pretreatments of the fabric which produces good ultraviolet resistance in the fabric. An innovative product based on a water-borne hydrophobic silicone resin and additive technology platform overcomes the difficulties of combining silicone materials with organic water-borne resins and offers a range of benefits.
