They can be sprayed and cured at lower temperatures than current PTFE coatings. The polymer binder matrix incorporates perfluorinated comonomers and nanoscale hard particles. Polyurethane-based systems gave the best abrasion and chemical resistance, but a polyimide-based system performed well in dry processing tests.

Teinture -- Fibres textiles synthétiquesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Disperse dyes do not contain water-soluble groups and are difficult to dissolve in water, so they cannot be directly formulated into dyeing liquor. In the current dyeing process, the solubility of disperse dyes is mainly improved by adding dispersants. However, dispersants are not absorbed by fibres and survive in the dyeing effluent, aggravating the pollution of water bodies and causing difficulties in treatment. Therefore, the development of a novel, eco-friendly dyeing approach is important to overcome these problems. Herein, for the purpose of improving the solubility of disperse dyes and reducing the dosage of dispersants, a deep eutectic solvent consisting of choline chloride/ethylene glycol was employed instead of dispersant to dissolve CI Disperse Blue 79 and CI Disperse Red 343, thus forming liquid disperse dyes. The results show that both CI Disperse Blue 79 and CI Disperse Red 343 were well dissolved in choline chloride/ethylene glycol with excellent stability, and the dissolution behaviour was strongly associated with the dissolution temperature and time. Moreover, polyester fabrics can be dyed successfully with liquid disperse dyes, and it was observed that the K/S value and rubbing fastness were evidently improved at the same dyeing temperature with unchanged colour characteristics, and a higher K/S value could still be obtained by lowering the dyeing temperature. This work establishes a green dyeing process, which reduces dyeing costs and meets the demand for environmental protection. It is also expected to realise the liquid state of disperse dyes, which will help to promote the further development of textile dyeing. Solidité de la couleurIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Dyeing is a significant process step in leather making that is carried out to enhance the aesthetics of the tanned hides and skins. Due to the heterogeneous nature of the skin matrix, obtaining leathers with consistent color is challenging. The present study describes application of hydrotalcite-like inorganic synthetic material (HTLM) during leather dyeing to bring color uniformity among leathers by maximizing the color intensity within the skin and among the skins processed in a batch. The HTLM has been used in an interim step between two phases of dyeing that enhanced shade intensity as well as color consistency through modification of the leather surface chemically. The efficacy of the HTLM for enhanced color intensity and uniformity in leather has been investigated. Influence of the HTLM on the physicals characteristics like, perspiration, color fastness to light and dry/wet rub are also studied. Note de contenu : - Materials

Souplesse (mécanique)Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Vegetable oil modified urethane (OMU) has been widely used in wood flooring applications for many decades. Due to tightening volatile organic compound (VOC) regulations in recent years, the market has been slowly shifting towards waterborne systems. However, most of the current waterborne OMUs either still contain N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP), or the VOC is still relatively high at 135–250 g/L, while the nonvolatile (NV) content is relatively low at 32–38% and thus requires multiple coats to achieve performance properties.1 This article demonstrates a recent breakthrough in the development of a novel NMP-free waterborne OMU with a VOC <100 g/L and a high 45% NV content that maintains the exceptional performance properties of traditional solventborne and waterborne OMUs in the market. Its potential applications include but are not limited to high performance clear wood floor coatings, conformal coatings, air dry, and force cure coatings. Note de contenu : - Dry time
