Vieillissement cutanéIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Despite the mounting evidence that even minimal exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation can lead to visible signs of skin aging, and the growing concerns among consumers regarding the impact of sun exposure on facial skin, the regular use of facial UV protection remains relatively low. One contributing factor to this trend is the prevailing belief that sun protection is only necessary when engaging in activities like going to the beach, where the primary concern is avoiding sunburn. However, it is important to recognize that while UV filters effectively shield the skin from sunburn, they also offer a broader range of benefits for skincare. To raise awareness about these advantages, DSM-Firmenich conducted an extensive review of scientific studies exploring the role of UV filters in five key areas: prevention of photoaging, hyperpigmentation prevention, protection against blue light, defence against the risk of skin cancer, and support for skin barrier immunity. In this article, we present a summary of the main findings in each of these areas Note de contenu : - Benefit 1 : daily use of UV filters can help prevent photoageing

XylitolIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : The author explain what xylitol has to offer as a natural active with proven benefits for skin health.
The number of new skin care products featuring a microbiome-related claim has increased sharply over the last few years and it has become one of the most talked about drivers of product innovation in the category.
At the same time, consumers' interest in environmental and ethical beauty continue to soar and influence purchasing decisions. A comparison between product launches featuring a sustainability claim between 2012 and 2022 showed an increase of nearly 70%. Of course, this does not mean that consumers are willing to compromise on the skin-hydrating performance of their chosen moisturiser. Far from it. Rather, these trends have created a more complex set of demands. The challenge facing formulators and brand owners is how to respond effectively with efficacious products that have minimum impact on the environment.
In this article, we explain why a new highly purified xylitol - known as Genencare® XL - may be the key to meeting these expectations. This bioactive material not only sets a new benchmark in terms of xylitol sustainability, it has also been shown through scientific data to maintain skin hydration while supporting a healthy microbiome profile.Note de contenu : - More than just hydration

(Wikipedia)

SébumIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Pogostemon cablin (patchouli) is highly prized for use in perfumery due to its woody and earthy scent with tobacco inflexions and camphor facets. To develop Patchoul’Up™, hereafter the patchouli leaf active, Givaudan Active Beauty employed clean extraction processes on patchouli leaves that had already been distillated to extract essential oils for the fragrance industry
The distillated leaves are dried and re-valorised ('upcycled'), and subcritical water extraction (SWE) is employed to induce selective fractionation of the active compounds oligosaccharides and proteoglycans. SWE is a process that augments the extraction potency of water.
At the subcritical state, the water's physicochemical parameters are modified to give a higher solubility power and apolarity, delivering a unique profile and a higher yield.Note de contenu : - 100 % integrated, traceable and durable

SéborrhéeIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Performed tests approached pollution in different mechanisms and showed consistent protective efficacy of Acrochaetium moniiiforme extract:
• Epidermal tells protection from cadmium
• Sebaceous gland protection from urban dust
• Skin protection from ozone
In vitro data on cadmium-stressed keratinocytes showed an interesting protection capacity of Acrochaetium moniliforme extraction on the epidermal mechanical barder, botte protecting directly the cell integrity and downregulating the induction of an inflammatory state.
in vitro data on a new specifically designed protocol based on the use of human sebocyte cell line, showed that these cells are highly stimulated by urban dust and react by overproducing lipids. These new insights suggest the existence of a specific biological mechanism in oily skin : reactive sebum due to polluted environment. Acrochaetium moniliforme extract was specifically able to reduce this impact.
Finally in vivo data, obtained in a study conducted in an urban polluted environment (Shanghai), confirmed the efficacy of Acrochaetium moniliforme extract, decreasing sebum production and decreasing direct pollution impact on skin (ozonolysed squalene).
Thus, through this global protective effect (Fig 6), Acrochaetium moniliforme extract can be proposed as an urban life dermopurifying ingredient in ail kinds of formulation with anti-pollution daims. Thanks to this unique macroalgae tell technology, Seppic is able to create value from this unexplored marine resource and offer it to its customer to get rid of oily skin for long term benefits.Note de contenu : - Halting urban pollution's impact on skin
