Revêtements en bâtimentIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Latex paints can be formulated from a variety of polymer dispersions. This article compares the properties of acrylic and acrylic/styrene dispersions when used as binders in such paints. The films formed from these dispersions absorb little water. Acrylic/styrene films are more permeable to water vapour than straight acrylic ones. There is no difference in the performance of acrylic and acrylic/styrene latices in mat paints formulated for use outdoors. Note de contenu : - Acrylic copolymer dispersions

Polymères en émulsionIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Acrylate latex is widely used in coating film forming agents, textile printing and dyeing adhesives, daily chemical products, medical polymers etc. However, the drawbacks of the acytate, such as poor water resistance, easy brittleness at low temperature and losing adhesion at high temperature have limited its further application. Thus, it is necessary to modify the latex to widen its application. Nowadays, more and more attention has been focused on nanometre-acrylate composite materials, such as silicon dioxide, titanium dioxide, alumina, zinc oxide etc, which have been used in emulsion polymerisation to improve the properties of acrylate latex because of the particular properties of the nanometer materials. In this paper, the modification of acrylate latex with nanometer materials is reviewed in detail, which can bring some inspiration to modification of the acrylate latex. The effects of the levels of silicone monomer and hydroxyl values on the film properties of the 2K WBPU coatings were investigated. Infrared spectroscopy characterized its structure. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) were used to study the surface morphology and the thermal stability of the film. The results showed that the performance of the coatings and the thermal stability of the film of 2K WBPU were improved after silicone modification. Revêtements en phase aqueuse:Peinture en phase aqueuseIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Acrylic and polyurethane aqueous dispersions have been used extensively in coating applications, both independently and as physical blends. The resulting coatings display a balance of properties from the inherent characteristics of acrylics and polyurethanes. Nonetheless, these properties often fall short of those predicted front the traditional rule of mixtures. In contrast, a process has been developed whereby acrylic monomers and urethane prepolymers are intimately mixed and mutually polymerized in an aqueous dispersion, thereby resulting in hybrid polymer dispersions. This process causes an interpenetrating network (IPN) of the polymers which subsequently display unique properties compared to standard acrylic, polyurethane, or macroscopically blended acrylic/urethane dispersions. These properties appear to be directly attributable to the acrylic-polyurethane hybrid morphology. Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL : Materials - Procedures
