Revêtements -- Propriétés optiques:Peinture -- Propriétés optiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : A theory that explains the mechanism by which pigments affect the gloss of paint films was strengthened and expanded. Immediately after paint is applied, surface tension of the wet film maintains its surface at molecular smoothness and gloss at perfect distinctness-of-image. While the film dries or cures it shrinks from loss of solvent or condensation products. Pigment particles and, if present, resin droplets, come together, interact and develop structure within the wet film. Eventually, the compressive strength of this structure in the film overcomes the surface forces. As the film continues to shrink, its surface becomes rough, degrading distinctness-of-image gloss. Experimental data and theoretical argument are presented that show that effects are proportional to pigment particle size. Note de contenu : - THE MECHANISM OF PIGMENT INVOLVEMENT IN GLOSS

Revêtements -- DétériorationIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Gloss retention, the ability of a coating to retain its showroom gloss during exposure, predicts the service life of automotive finishes. It is, after all, the owner's pride in a shiny car that is involved in the life of satisfactory service. Does the measure reflect the degradation of a coating under the influence of weathering? Not necessarily. New insights into the mechanism by which pigments degrade the gloss of paint films teach us that initial gloss retention results reflect not film degradation but appear to involve a continuation of the processes of film formation that continue after the coatings leaves the paint shop. We will comment on European and American perceptions of service life predictions of paint films pigmented with TiO2, chalking and gloss retention perspectives will be contrasted and their consequences will be outlined.
Polymères aliphatiquesIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Optics play an increasingly important role in plastic components. Glossy and even surfaces are decisive for an attractive appearance. With glass fiber-reinforced polyamides (PA), these requirements can usually only be achieved with an additional coating. A PA specially developed for surface design offers an alternative approach. Note de contenu : - Improved surface quality and high stiffness
- First class uniformity despite a higher glass fiber content
- Gloss and hardness combined
- Varied range of use
- Figure : For visible components, an even, glossy surface is often desired, which is often difficult to achieve with glass fiber-reinforced PA. PA Grivory G7V from EMS now solves this problem
- Fig. 1 : Grivory G7V achieves significantly smoother surfaces at the same mold temperature than PA6 and PA66 with the same glass fiber content. This minimizes wear and tear and ensures reduced noise development
- Fig. 2 : Even as a basic variant with a glass fiber content of 40%, Grivory G7V has less warpage than PA6 and PA66 with the same glass fiber content. With specially treated X grades, warpage can be halved again
- Fig. 3 : Due to its significantly harder surface, Grivory G7V is less sensitive to scratches than conventional PA typesEn ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VioWIt9wQf3MuKCjibDEdF7HKMDsF20T/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=34718
