Terpolymère acrylonitrile butadiène styrèneIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Due to their high-gloss surfaces, ABS and SAN copolymers are classically used in claddings, dashboards and panels. A new development cooperation has now investigated a wide range of these materials for different surface designs using lasers. This could open up new applications for these materials, for example in automotive interiors. Revêtements poudre:Peinture poudreIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The production of matte finish powder coatings currently requires dry blending of two incompatible resins, or expensive GMA or Polyurethane chemistries for exterior coatings. A new "single shot" HAA-cured system allows low and reproducible gloss levels to be obtained by mixing two specific polyester resins together before extrusion. Gloss is controlled by selection on the polyesters and their mixing ratio. SéchageIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The use of artificial neural networks (ANNs) in the modeling and prediction ofalkyd enamel coating properties, as well as in the sensitivity analysis that can be performed between the properties and the different paint components, are described. A feedforward neural network with sigmoidal activation functions was used with a conjugate gradient algorithm to recognize the complex input-output relation between the paint properties and the formula components. We restricted the study to only two properties of alkyd enamel paints: gloss and drying time. A database of five different families of alkyd enamel paints, containing the different components of the formulations as well as process information, was used in this study. The results obtained show, within the expected uncertainty tolerance, that predictive power of more than 90% for these two properties can be achieved. A sensitivity analysis was also performed using ANNs, yielding the relative importance of the different components of the formulation on the properties of the enamel coatings, which agrees with experience for gloss but gives mixed results for the drying time (apparently due to the high uncertainties in the measurement of this property). Revêtements protecteursIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Waterborne 2K polyurethane coatings based on the new generation of cosolvent-free, OH-functional polyurethane dispersions and internally activated polyacrylate dispersions are excellently suited for the use in transportation (eg trains, trucks, buses and ACE market) clearcoats and topcoats as well as for metal, plastic and wood substrates. Depending on the coating formulation, they prove to be hard, yet still flexible, even in cold weather.
Additional values to mention are the corresponding coatings are high-gloss, weather resistant, highly chemical resistant and, depending on the dispersion used, characterised by a pronounced self-healing effect after scratching or are very fast drying, meaning the oven temperature for drying coated objects can be reduced to cut energy costs and CO2 emissions. These new PU and PAC dispersions are already used in the field of general industrial, wood and furniture coating. The dispersions presented here make it possible, using waterborne products, to fulfill or even exceed the requirements imposed on coatings in market segments previously dominated by conventional coating systems and they are very eco-friendly thanks to their low VOC content. A significant expansion is expected in the use of waterborne polyurethane coatings in the medium term. These new building blocks, therefore, will add a new chapter to the overall success story of aliphatic 2K polyurethane coatings.Note de contenu : - Internal activation cuts energy costs and reduces CO2 emissions
