The influence of different monocarboxylic acids on the viscosities of polyesters and their 2K-PU films hardness was studied and it was found that MHPs prepared from lauric acid displayed the higher films hardness and lower viscosities. IR spectra of MHPs disclosed the ring-opening reaction between ε-caprolactone and hydroxyl groups occurred. 1H NMR spectra demonstrated that the molecular structures of MHPs were irregular due to the multiplicity of reaction processes. The measured number-average molecular weights (Mn) of MHPs were around 715–1854 g/mol with the PDI of 1.45–2.05. MHPs exhibited lower viscosities in the range of 3304–9060 mPa s at 100% solid contents and possessed lower intrinsic viscosities compared with linear polymers of similar molecular weight. The cured films of MHPs exhibited excellent impact resistance, adhesion, flexibility, and high hardness and displayed good thermal stability with 5% weight loss at 280°C. The solution viscosities of MHPs were less than 450 mPa s at 80% solid contents, and the VOC contents of 2K-PU coatings obtained from MHPs were low to 300 g/L. These polymers were characterized by FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, 31P NMR, elemental analysis, and MALDI spectroscopy. The thermal behavior of the polymers has been investigated by thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). There is no weight loss observed until 250 °C under nitrogen atmosphere. DSC showed that the glass transition temperatures was about ?14 and ?30 °C for the prepared core-shell HBPE. The dielectric properties such as dielectric constant and loss factor for these polyesters were also studied with respect to change of frequency (50 Hz to 5 MHz). Stabilité thermiqueIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In this article, two kinds of phosphorus-containing cardanol-based acrylates were designed and synthesized. Firstly, a pre-polymer (PT-HCE) with three arms was synthesized using hydroxyethyl cardanol ether (HCE) and phosphorus oxychloride (POCl3) as raw materials. Then, the PT-HCE was acrylated to synthesize phosphate tris-hydroxyethyl cardanol epoxy acrylate resin (AEPT-HCE) and phosphate tris-hydroxyethyl cardanol photosensitive resin (APT-HCE). The structures of PT-HCE, AEPT-HCE and APT-HCE were characterized and the results showed that the photosensitive resins were successfully synthesized. In addition, AEPT-HCE and APT-HCE were used to prepare the flame-retardant UV/EB curing coatings. The properties of the coatings were tested, and the results revealed that different structures have a certain effect on Tg and tensile properties of the coatings. The cured films demonstrated excellent flame-retardant properties, showing flammability rating of V-0 in UL-94 test. ViscositéIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : A series of N-alkylated aminosulfonic acids (NASAs) were synthesized with 1,4-butane sultone and primary amines and then reacted with hexamethylene diisocyanate trimer to obtain water-dispersible polyisocyanates (WDPs). Two-component waterborne polyurethane (2K-WPU) coatings were finally prepared by the reaction of WDPs and aqueous hydroxyl resins. The structures and properties of WDPs and 2K-WPU coatings were characterized. The effects of the categories and amounts of NASAs on the properties of WDPs and 2K-WPU coatings, including viscosities, water resistance and transparency, were investigated. The results showed that the average molecular weights and viscosities of the WDPs increased with the increase in the amounts and molecular weights of NASAs. 3-(Cyclohexylamino)-1-propanesulfonic acid possesses a high molecular weight, resulting in low-concentration –SO3 per mass, so a high concentration up to 3.5 wt% was needed to meet water-dispersible requirements. On the other hand, 3-isobutylamino-1-propanesulfonic acid (IBAPS) has high-concentration –SO3 per mass and only a low concentration (2.5 wt%) was required to offer satisfactory water dispersibility. 2K-WPU film cured by IBAPS-WDP displayed high gloss, good transparency and excellent water resistance owing to suitable steric hindrance and high content of –SO3H per mass. Revêtements organiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Cathodic electrophoretic deposition (CED) coatings are inevitably scratched following their application in processes such as automotive finishing. Self-healing coatings possess the ability to repair micro-scale damage, thereby extending their service life and reducing maintenance costs. Here, a novel strategy was developed to synthesize room-temperature intrinsic self-healing CED coatings by inserting 2-aminophenyl disulfide (APDS) into the polymer chain of cationic waterborne polyurethane (CWPU). Emulsion films incorporating the disulfide (SCWPU) could self-heal at room temperature via dynamic disulfide bond exchange and hydrogen bonding interactions, and their structures were confirmed by FTIR and Raman spectroscopy. The thermal properties of the SCWPU films were determined by differential scanning calorimetry and thermal gravimetric analysis. The effects of APDS incorporation and hard segment content (HSC) on the self-healing ability, mechanical and emulsion properties of the SCWPU films were systematically investigated. The results showed that the self-healing abilities of SCWPU film were 97.2% at RT over 24 h and 96.5% at 37°C (body temperature) after 4 h. CED coatings (8 μm, 3H pencil hardness) prepared from SCWPU emulsion also displayed self-healing properties at room temperature.
