Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Fluorinated oils - Oils based on fluoropolymers, when applied as additives for thermoplastics and elastomers, are able to enhance significantly these materials’ properties of processing and usage. Options range from improvement of scratch and abrasion resistance as well as flexural fatigue strength, reduction of friction coefficient and squeaking, up to facilitated melt flow and demolding. Revêtements poudreIndex. décimale : 667.2 Colorants et pigments Résumé : Why high-performance complex inorganic colour pigments make excellent colourants for high-durability resin systems based in fluoropolymers.
Powder coatings are an environmentally friendly way to apply coatings to a wide range of substrates for a number of uses. One of the most demanding applications is for building materials in aggressive environments. All the variables that lead to degradation of coatings - heat, ultraviolet (UV) light, moisture, oxidation agents and chemicals along with simple physical abuse - are present. For these applications, the highest performance components have to be used, if specifications, such as those prescribed by American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) 2605 are to be met. Part of the equation is the resin used while the other is the colourant.Note de contenu : Table 1 : QUV-A Testing

Revêtements en bâtimentIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Highly weatherable, 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finishes are among the most popular coatings for exterior architectural metal, but when a need arises to make repairs or change colors, the options for restoration paints are often rather limited. Nonfluorocarbon restoration paints will not match the original PVDF finish in terms of color stability. Many of the fluorocarbon restoration paint options can have their own drawbacks, such as high VOC, adhesion issues over PVDF finishes, and potlife/material handling issues for systems which are two-component. We present here new studies to adapt PVDF-acrylic hybrid latex technology to the needs of the building restoration market. New one-pack formulations achieve outstanding weatherability and excellent wet and dry adhesion to new and aged PVDF finishes, at VOC levels in the 100g/L range. Second generation latex materials under development are showing similar adhesion properties, in formulations meeting West Coast 50 g/L VOC requirements.
