Transition vitreuseIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : A functional lignin-modified polyvinyl alcohol material was prepared by in-situ copolymerization and alcoholysis of vinyl acetate and functional lignin. We then investigated the molecular functional groups, mechanical properties, thermal properties and flame retardancy of the materials by using Fourier-transform infrared spectrometer, universal testing machine, differential scanning calorimeter, thermal gravimetric analyzer, scanning electron microscope, limiting oxygen indexer and horizontal vertical burning tester. The results show that with increase in functional lignin content, the limiting oxygen index, combustion grade and glass transition temperature of the functional lignin-modified polyvinyl alcohol film increased. Both tensile strength and elongation at break increased first and then decreased with increasing functional lignin content. When the functional lignin content was 15 %, these two indices reached their maximum values. As the functional lignin content increased, the melting temperature of the material gradually rose after a sudden drop. When the functional lignin content was 5 %, the melting temperature was the lowest. Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENT : Materials - experimental process - Test and characterization

Transition vitreuseIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : With isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI), polytetrahydrofuran (PTMG), and dimethylolpropanoic acid (DMPA) as monomers, aqueous polyurethane finishing agents were synthesized. Butylamine, ethylene glycol and ethylene diamine were used as chain-extension agents. The aqueous polyurethane finishing agents were dried to yield polyurethane films (PU films). Mechanical properties of the films were studied. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and water absorption were employed to characterize the structure and behaviors of the polyurethane films. Properties of the films obtained by different chain-extension agents were compared. Results show that the properties of the butylamine chain-extended film are better than those of the films chain-extended by either ethylene glycol or ethylene diamine. The elongation at break was the highest, 1454%. The glass transition temperature (Tg) reached -82°C and the water resistance was also better. Transition vitreuseIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : A series of copolymers of 2,2,2-trifluoroethyl methacrylate (FMA) and methyl acrylate (MA) with different copolymer compositions were synthesized by solution polymerization. The chemical structure of copolymers was characterized by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), 1H NMR, and 19F NMR. The reactivity ratios for FMA (r1) and MA (r2) were found to be 1.83 and 0.31 by the Fineman–Ross method and 1.91 and 0.34 by the Kelen–Tudos method, respectively. The glass transition temperature of the copolymers decreased with increasing MA content and ranged from 77.5 to 13.4°C for a feed composition of 90 mol% MA monomer, while, according to water contact angle data, the hydrophilic properties of the copolymer coatings increased with increasing MA feed composition. Remarkably, when the feed composition of MA was 60 mol%, the glass transition temperature was reduced to 29.2°C, while the obtained copolymer exhibited comparable hydrophobic property to the PFMA homopolymer. Transition vitreuseIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Polyphenylene ether (PPE) is a polymer with very high glass transition temperature, superior thermal stability but poor melt processability. Mainly to improve its processability and chemical resistance, it is blended with Polystyrene (PS) and Nylon-6, respectively. In this research, ternary blends of PPE/PS/Nylon-6 were prepared using co-rotating twin screw extrusion and test specimens were injection molded. The influence of Maleic anhydride and screw speed on the mechanical and thermal properties of the ternary blends was investigated. The 40/40/20 blends, without Maleic anhydride, processed at screw speed of 600 min–1 showed highest tensile, flexural and impact strengths of 65.74 MPa, 82.22 MPa and 8.88 kJ/m2, respectively. Complete miscibility of the three polymers in the ternary blend was evidenced by scanning electron micrographs. Glass transition temperature of the ternary blend was 127 °C. High thermal and dimensional stability of the blend was evidenced by lowest volatile mass and highest residual mass at 800 °C along with decomposition temperature of 458.6 °C. Maleic anhydride was not effective as compatibilizer in improving the mechanical properties of the ternary blend.
