Transition vitreuseIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : The pultrusion process has aroused growing interest during the past ten years as it can produce high-performance continuous fibre-reinforced composite parts (especially when using carbon fibres) with lower weight and low manufacturing costs. Structil has been a leader in carbon pultrusion since 1985. Note de contenu : - The pultrusion process

Transition vitreuseIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : sothermal glassy-state properties of cured thermosetting materials pass through maximum and minimum values with increasing chemical conversion. In this work a diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (a diepoxide) and trimethylene glycol di-p-aminobenzoate (a tetra-functional aromatic diamine) system (DGEBA/TMAB) has been investigated for the purpose of analyzing the behavior after cure of the isothermal properties of the glass with increasing conversion. The glass transition temperature (Tg) is used as a direct measure of conversion. The density, Tg, modulus, and free volume of the material after cure with increasing conversion was measured. The specific volume at 25°C after cure passes through a minimum and the modulus passes through a maximum with increasing conversion (Tg). The fractional fraction free volume at 25°C after cure passes through a minimum value with respect to conversion. The specific volume, modulus, and fractional free volume at 25°C versus conversion data qualitatively correlate Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL : Chemical system - Mixing procedure - Cure procedure - Density measurements - DSC measurements - Thermal expansion coefficient measurements - positron annihilation spectroscopy

Transition vitreuseIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : The mechanical, interfacial and thermal properties of a flax/ epoxy composite incorporated with a silica aerogel (SA) at 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 wt.% were examined in this work. A set of maximum enhancements of 8.7%, 9.0% and 24.0% in the impact, inter-laminar shear strength (ILSS) and compressive strengths were achieved by adding 0.5 wt.% SA into the flax/epoxy composites. Also, the results obtained from dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) indicated that the damping characteristics, peak tan delta and peak loss modulus improved at all filler concentrations, while the glass transition temperature (Tg) decreased slightly. Features of SA such as biodegradability, ability to improve the mechanical properties as observed in this work and enhanced damping characteristics make them suitable for application in machine parts requiring impact resistance and vibration damping characteristics.

Transition vitreuseIndex. décimale : 668.3 Adhésifs et produits semblables Résumé : Adhesive bonding can be used to assemble identical materials or materials of different types ; the purpose of such an assembly is to transfer mechanical loads in a given environment. Adhesive bonding is a broadly used assembly technique that is often linked to productivity gains or weight savings. The automotive, building and construction, aerospace, and railway industries commonly use adhesives to reinforce structures in conjunction with standard methods such as welding, riveting and screwing. Transition vitreuseIndex. décimale : 677.4 Textiles artificiels Résumé : The market of elastic yarns has grown rapidly over the past years. Drivers are especially applications in apparel and medical textiles. Currently, elastic yarns are mainly produced by dry spinning. 4 major challenges limit this way of elasticyarn production : low production speeds, expensive production conditions, environmental issues due to solvents and a high surface tackiness of yarns, which makes further processing difficuit. The research project ElasKosTex analyses a solution approach of developing melt spun elastic bicomponent filament yarns. Note de contenu : - Increasing production speeds and reducing tackiness
