Using a special process control, the two materials are blended in a twin-screw extruder at a mass throughput rate of 2 kg/h, resulting in a stereocomplex Poly(-lactide) (PLA) blend. Thermal analysis indicates only one melting point at 235 °C. Both the Raman spectra and X-ray powder diffraction patterns show characteristic features for the stereocomplex PLA. With the available amount of this blend PLA fibers with technical strengths can be developed by melt spinning. As such, the application of the biopolymer PLA can be expanded, leading to substitute the conventional plastics for conserving both the resources and the environment. Note de contenu : - Materials

Polyamide 6Index. décimale : 677 Textiles Résumé : In this study, polyblend of polyamide 6 (PA6) with ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) are investigated. For this purpose, PA6 chips were blended with EVA whose composition varies from 0,1 and 4% by weight. The resulting data indicates that at constant draw ratio, with increase in EVA content, there is decrease in density, optical birefringence, crystallinity, tenacity and modulus where as an increase in dye uptake and percentage stain. PA6 and EVA show good compatibility towards each other as evidenced by DSC and SEM studies. Also, the 2% of EVA blend is a good choice in increasing the dye ability of PA6 at a low cost. EpoxydesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Epoxy resins, either glycidyl epoxy or non-glydidyl epoxy resins, reacted with a large number of chemical species called curatives or hardeners. Optimum performance properties can be obtained by cross-linking the epoxy resins into a three dimensional and infusible network. The choice of curing agent depends on processing method, curing conditions, i.e., curing temperature and time, physical and chemical properties desired, toxicological and environmental limitations and cost.
But, like other thermosetting resins, the brittleness of epoxy resin is a major deficiency in many applications. To overcome this deficiency of epoxy resins, many attempts have been made to blend them with reactive liquid rubbers such as carboxyl and amine terminated butadiene acrylonitrile rubber (CTBN and ATBN). The properties of epoxy/CTBN or epoxy/ATBN systems, especially their mechanical properties, have been intensively studied, and results have proved that. With an appropriate weight of rubber, the rubber modified resins have strongly improved toughness. In this way, carboxyl-terminated copolymer of butadiene and acrylonitrile (CTBN) has been used by various workers with diglycidyl ether bidphenol A (DGEBA) epoxy resins.
Blend samples containing 0-25 wt% CTBN were prepared according to the procedure simular to that adopted by ting. The calculated quantity of epoxy resin wss, firstly, stirred at 120°C for 1 h to entrap all air bubbles from the resin, the calculated quantity of polyamine was added and stirred to get a clear homogeneous mixture.Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=6827

RhéologieIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : This paper is concerned with the feasibility of melt spinning of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) copolymer (acrylonitrile/methylacrylate 95.6/4.4 mol% ratio) plasticized with water-ethanol (EtOH) mixtures. The melting point and rheological and stability behaviors of PAN/water/ethanol mixture are reported. The objective is to determine whether this mixture is appropriate for allowing the PAN to be melt spun. The melting point results from differential scanning calorimetry show the Tm of PAN/water/ethanol (70/15/15 wt%) mixture can be reduced to 150 °C from 300 °C. The time-dependent viscosity results showed that this mixture can be processed at 170 °C for more than 100 min without degradation. The steady-shear viscosity results indicated the shear-thinning behavior is observed for this mixture at a temperature ranging from 170 °C to 190 °C. These rheological data are also highly similar to the reference condition and other potential conditions reported in our previous paper, which indicates PAN/water/ethanol (70/15/15 wt%) at 170 °C is a potential condition for PAN melt spinning. The scanning electron microscopy diagrams show the copolymer strand melt extruded from PAN/water (70/30 wt%) mixture contains many more voids and bubbles than the PAN/water/ethanol (70/15/15 wt%) system. In conclusion, PAN/water/ethanol (70/15/15 wt%) at 170 °C is the most benign set condition (i. e. the composition and temperature) for carrying out the PAN melt spinning process.
