Revêtements organiquesIndex. décimale : 667.6 Peintures Résumé : Solvent-based emulsion paints are still the state of the art for many coating applications. However, interest continues to grow in binders that permit the formulation of solvent-free emulsion based paint systems. This requirement can be met by selecting polymer dispersions with an appropriate minimum film-forming temperature (MFFT). Therefore, the similarities and differences between pure (or straight) acrylic (Ak) and acrylic/styrene (Ak/S) dispersions with different MFFTs will be discussed In the following. Other variables that we considered are the pigment volume concentration (PVC in the range of 46 to 68%), the grade of titanium dioxide pigment and the composition of the extenders used in the formulation.

Infusing cellulosic fiber into sportswear helps in further reduction of carbon footprint in the environment and up-scales the sustainability. Various comparative knit fabrics and yarns which impart value addition in sportswear were developed. The present study examines union blend of hydrophobic/hydrophilic 60/40 with pleating as well as single jersey knit fabric for better moisture management and comfort which is a primary requisite in sportswear applications. The nonionic surfactants, selected systematically to represent varying degrees of ethoxylation, are nonylphenol ethoxylates, whereas the ionic surfactant is sodium oleate, a carboxylate-type anionic reagent. The adsorption of surfactants was assessed qualitatively by surface analysis of powders, before and after the adsorption of the surfactants. The experimental results were explained by the structural and other properties of the surfactants and the surface properties of the pigment. The specific adsorption of surfactants on pigments was verified by zeta potential measurements, as they altered the zeta potential values to a great extent. Nonionic surfactants decreased the absolute value of the zeta potential of the powder; whereas anionic surfactant sodium oleate shifted the zeta potential to more negative values. On the one hand, Fourier Transform–infrared and X-ray diffraction examinations of the pigments did not show any noticeable evidence for surfactant untreated or treated copper phthalocyanine. On the other hand, thermal analysis (both thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis) showed clear evidence of the surfactants on both pigments, as substantial changes in thermogravimetric curves were assessed. Revêtements organiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : An advanced long-term active corrosion protection coating for carbon steel was proposed using poly(aniline-aminosalicylic acid) nanofiber (PACA-f) covalently linked with cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB)-modified graphene oxide (CTGO). The proton-doped PACA-f functionalized CTGO (PACA-f/CTGO) exhibits excellent hydrophobicity and outstanding water resistance in waterborne epoxy polymer (WEP) coatings and better compatibility with WEP due to the formation of organic–inorganic networks. PACA-f/CTGO composite coating has a self-repairing function and shows superior corrosion resistance on Q235 steel. The surface-corrosion inhibition of PACA-f/CTGO on steel was investigated by molecular dynamics simulation(MD) which confirmed the chemical adsorption of the PACA-f/CTGO on the steel surface. The excellent water resistance and anticorrosion property of PACA-f/CTGO are ascribed to the high hydrophobicity of the hybrid coatings, the formation of intelligent passivation layer after the corrosive medium invading, and the barrier performance of CTGO.
