The uniqueness of this process is incorporation as well as dispersion of nano magnesium oxide into acrylic resin matrix where nano magnesium oxide is functional component. Magnesium oxide nanoparticles were successfully synthesized by sol-gel technique using magnesium nitrate as a precursor. Characterization of synthesized magnesium oxide nanoparticles and their distribution in acrylic resin matrix has been confirmed by spectroscopic, X-ray diffraction and SEM analysis. The coating based on such hybrid resin exhibited excellent anti-microbial activity. Such resin system has potential for application in antimicrobial coating. Aluminium -- Alliages

(Wikipedia)

Vapeur d'eauIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Sol–gel silica antireflective (AR) coatings possess a high specific surface area that is more susceptible to be contaminated by absorption of contaminants from the environment, which will increase the refractive index and reduce the transmittance. Ammonia and γ-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (KH570) vapor treatment was employed to passivate the silica AR coating, thereby enhancing the environmental stability. The properties of the coatings were characterized with Fourier transfer infrared absorption spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, UV–Vis–NIR spectrometer, and contact angle measurement. The results showed that after the vapor treatment, the coatings became denser and the environmental stability was greatly improved. After being exposed to a humid environment (RH > 90%) and low-vacuum environment with intentionally induced organic contaminants for 60 days, the transmittance of the modified SiO2 coating decreased by only 0.08% and 0.2%, respectively. Meanwhile, the average transmittance decreased by only 0.02% after being rubbed for 1000 cycles, indicating that the co-treated coating also possessed a good abrasion resistance. VinyltriéthoxysilaneIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : This paper presents the effect of pretreatment of polyamide (PA6) nonwoven with corona discharge on the stability of the adhesion of thin hydrophobic silicone-organic coating based on vinyltriethoxysilane, made by the sol–gel method. This pretreatment with corona discharge causes a change in the physicochemical properties of the PA6 fiber surface. These changes include, among others, an increase in the fiber surface roughness, wettability, and surface free energy. At the same time, XPS and EDS investigations have shown an increase in the degree of oxidation and the formation of functional polar groups on the fiber surface (C–O–, C–OH, and O=C–O–). As a result of the changes in the surface properties of pretreated PA6 fibers, a higher degree of the sol deposition was obtained compared with that for untreated nonwoven surface. The assessment of the stability of the adhesion of thin hydrophobic coating to the fiber surface was carried out on the basis of changes in the content of silica deposited on fibers and the kinetics of water contact angle after washing and abrasion processes. In the end, the PA6 nonwoven, pretreated with corona discharge, shows a higher stability of the adherence of the thin silicone-organic coating and a higher degree of hydrophobicity than the untreated nonwoven. In this study, the effect of curing process on simulated antisoiling properties of sol–gel coating was investigated. The sol–gel coating was spray-coated on pine sapwood and cured with different temperature and time combinations. The antisoiling properties were studied by measuring the water contact angle of the coating after different curing processes. In addition, abrasion resistance and contact angle of oleic acid were measured. An optical profilometer was used to investigate surface roughness of the coating. Sufficient hydro- and oleophobicity were obtained with all of the curing parameters. The comparison between curing parameters showed that lower temperature and 1–3 h curing time leads to significant improvement in the durability of the water and oil repellent properties of the coating.
