TaninsIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The annual cost of corrosion globally exceeds 1.8 trillion US dollars, which translates into 3-4 % of the GDP of industrialised nations worldwide. Over the past decade there has been significant progress in the development of smart coatings. Smart coatings require triggers to respond to the environment. Such triggers can be moisture, pH, chloride ions concentration, mechanical damage, and temperature and redox activity. In the current work we report synthesis of silica encapsulated tannic acid based smart coatings and its rust preventive performance derived out of the same. Epoxy primer grey paint and epoxy novolac based tank liner paints prepared using silica encapsulated tannic acid (MNSTA) were applied over manually cleaned surface. Its triggering mechanism was analysed by exposing them to different acidic pH and subsequently exposed to salt spray testing. The same has been compared with normal salt spray behaviour. Pull off adhesion, cathodic disbondment were performed in addition to understand its overall anti-corrosive behaviour. For materials made of paper and cardboard to bond reliably and durably to each other, the adhesive joint should be firm yet flexible. The paper and packaging industry also needs its products to be environmentally friendly and sustainable-especially where the transport and storage of food is concerned. Titre : A smart anticorrosion coating based on hollow silica nanocapsules with inorganic salt in shells Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Dong Zhao, Auteur ; Dongguang Liu, Auteur ; Zhijia Hu, Auteur Année de publication : 2017 Article en page(s) : p. 85-94 Note générale : Bibliogr.

Sol-gel, ProcédéIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : This work presents the synthesis of corrosion inhibitor [1H-benzotriazole (BTA)]-loaded hollow silica nanocapsules with magnesium hydroxide precipitate in the shells (HSNs-M/BTA) through inverse microemulsion (W/O) polymerization. TEM and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) measurements indicate that the silica nanocapsules possess voids in the inner part and mesoporous on the surface. The actual loading capacity of BTA is 287.17 mg (BTA)/1 g (HSNs-M/BTA). The results of UV absorption spectra show that the release of BTA can be triggered by the changing of pH in the corrosion solution. The anticorrosive SiOx/ZrOx coatings embedded with hydrophobically modified HSNs-M have a better waterproof performance since the water contact angle can reach 140°. In comparison to the passive SiOx/ZrOx coatings with or without BTA, the enhanced corrosion protection performance of this developed anticorrosive system was observed by both electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and Tafel analysis. The fabrication of nanocapsules with corrosion inhibitors is promising as an intelligent element in protective coatings in the future.
