In all of the tests performed, the UV-curable hot melt performed comparably to the solventborne acrylic. In addition, a significant performance advantage was seen on low-energy surfaces. This makes the technology even more appealing due to the ever-increasing use of plastics.
If you haven't looked at UV-curable hot melts lately, you could be missing out on some promissing products. The processing, safety and environmental advantages have always been there.
With new tools at their disposal, the performance of UV-curables is now up to any adhesive task tou need to face. Formulators have crafted newer and better adhesives capable of a variety of tasks. These products capture the traditional advantages of hot melts while meeting many of the standards of acrylics.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CNCGvAS5yznCEhTrcfUKPQOZDuYTYIJZ/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=20075

Revêtements organiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Latex paints formulated with two typical commercial acrylic dispersion binders - one a pure acrylic (Ak), the other an acrylic/styrene (Ak/S) were investigated. This included determination of the films mechanical properties, colour change (when subjected to artificial weathering), resistance to water and water-vapour transmission rates. Our investigations revealed there to be little difference between the two types of polymer in the 15-55% Pigment Volume Concentration (PVC) range. As earlier work showed, an optimum PVC and the right combination of pigment and extender are more important than the type of binder. Note de contenu : - Investigation of two typical commercial acrylic dispersion binders
- Test methods and mechanical testing (tensile strength/elongation at break) on the films
- Testing discoloration
- Interaction between the pigment and binder depends on the amount of absorbed water
- The water absorption drops with the number of wash/dry cycles
- Water-vapour transmission rate decrease with PVC
- Two opposing effects influence tensile properties
- Water toughens and improves the extensibility of Ak/S paint films more than Ak paint films
- Pure acrylic paints exhibit superior light stability than acrylic/styrene ones
- Practically no yellowing

Revêtements -- Propriétés mécaniques:Peinture -- Propriétés mécaniquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : To protect a building, the applied masonry paint must have good water resistance, a good water vapour tranmission rate (WVTR) and good weatherability. Futhermore, good dirt pickup resistance, colour maintenance, low chalking and good elasticity of the coating are required a long-pasting paint. All these properties of the coating are influenced by the choice of the binder. By copolymerising different monomers, it is possible ti vary the properties of the binders over an extremely wide range. Note de contenu : - ACRYLIC COPOLYMER DISPERSIONS

Revêtements:PeintureIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In this article the effects of type of reinforcement on the scratch behavior of nanocomposite coatings are studied. Such coatings can be used in the automotive industry as clear top paint coats. Three types of reinforcements were used, including detonation nanodiamond, nondetonation nanodiamond, and nano-alumina, with an average particle size of 4–6, 50–60, and ~50 nm, respectively. Nanocomposites containing 1.5 and 3 wt% of each filler type in polyacrylic as matrix were produced by sonication. The macrostructure, microstructure, and scratch behavior of coatings were investigated and compared with those of neat polyacrylic polymer. The scratch behavior was evaluated based on the ASTM G171 standard and also by common industrial tests such as the pencil hardness test. The results revealed that the nano-alumina coatings showed the best, and the nondetonation nanodiamond coatings the worst, scratch resistance—even less than that of the neat polyacrylic polymer.
