Index. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Hair weathering is the term given to the deterioration of the hair shaft as a result of cosmetic and environmental factors. In weathered hair, structural damage to the hair fibre causes the cuticle to become unstructured and porous, exposing the cortex to further damage.
Among these factors are environmental pollutants such as UV radiation, smog, cigarette smoke, chemical cosmetic procedures, etc. These generate free radicals and reactive oxygen species (ROS), molecules that oxidise and degrade the proteins and lipids of the hair surface.
Physical stress, such as combing, blow drying or excessive heat from strengthening or curling irons, dehydrates and degrades the proteins of the hair surface. Moreover, drastic procedures like perming, relaxing and bleaching cause structural and chemical damage, and are also a source of free radicals and ROS. Daily weathering is also a minor cause of hair loss and a common cause of frazzled and frizzy, hard-to-manage hair.Note de contenu : - Hair CMC

Protection cutanéeIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Consumer behaviour is shifting during the COVID-19 pandemic, we are on screens even more than we usually are because we are working from home and doing business via video conferencing. This situation raises awareness of blue light exposure and digital detox emerges as a growing need. Personal Care considers the influence of artificial visible light emitted by the screens, which is a good opportunity to position products that promote blue light protection.
In this article, we summarise several ways to combat blue light and to reduce premature skin aging. Approaches related to UV filters, restoring cells' energy metabolism and antioxidants are considered. Besides skin protection with conventional approaches like topical applications, we include the positive impact of using nutricosmetics giving holistic solutions to the consumers.Note de contenu : - INTRODUCTION : Screen-based lifestyles are bringing new needs

One of its manifestations is the appearance of age spots, which are the result of lipofuscin, oxidized or damaged proteins, and other cellular residues in the lysosomes.
The recovery mechanism for damaged macromolecules and proteins is controlled by both the autophagic process and proteasome activity.
This study is intended to evaluate the potential of a plant extract composed of Myrothamnus flabellifolia and Coffea arabica (MCE) to reduce the appearance age spots through autophagy and proteasome activity. In vitro studies in human fibroblasts with MCE showed a decrease in mTOR gene expression and an increase in Parkin, in addition to stimulating proteasome activity. These results are corroborated by a 56-day clinical evaluation, focusing on the face and hands, that indicated MCE lightens age spots and evens skin tone.
MCE mitigates the signs of aging by promoting homeostasis of the cellular detoxification system through stimulation of autophagy and proteasome activity that eliminates toxins and dysfunctional cellular biological components.Note de contenu : - Expression of mTOR and parkin genes associated with autophagy
