The as-prepared synthetic coatings were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. The corresponding corrosion properties were evaluated through potentiodynamic polarization curves and through electrochemical impedance spectra. The findings demonstrated that synthesis parameter variations impart an influential effect on the geometry of LDH, film thickness, and structural morphologies which have a significant impact on LDH corrosion resistance properties. The ZnAl-LDH corrosion resistance was found to increase with respect to extended high temperature and aging time, while the synthetic pH conditions also promoted LDH growth and film thickness, relative to lower-pH reaction conditions. The optimization results are attributed to high ZnAl-LDH corrosion resistance and act as a strong barrier film and ion-exchange surface area. The ZnAl-LDH films at 80°C-18r-6.5pH have shown much lower corrosion current density compared to bare AA6082, and a decrease of up to five orders of magnitude is observed. Traitement thermiqueIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The UV protective coatings were developed by incorporating triazine derivative organic UV stabilizers into inorganic titania particles which were produced by sol–gel method. The objective of this study is to delay the color change of heat-treated wood subjected to outdoor conditions. The protective coatings were prepared in air at room temperature. The coatings were not further treated thermally after their application to heat-sensitive materials. Coatings were applied to heat-treated jack pine wood. Subsequently, accelerated aging tests were carried out using coated and uncoated jack pine samples. The color change of the wood samples was studied, and the results were compared. Also, the morphological analyses were done using XPS after having weathered the wood at different times.
Index. décimale : 677.47 Non cellulosiques : Nylon, acryliques, polyesters, vinyles Résumé : Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) filaments were produced by adding various weight percentages of TiO2 at the draw ratios of 3.5 and 4.0, respectively. The effect of TiO2 on visual shielding property of the PET filaments was investigated by the spectroscopy measurement. The results indicate that the light reflectance of the PET filaments shows a rising trend and the light transmittance decreases with the increase of the TiO2 weight percentage at both the draw ratios, which facilitates the enhancement of visual shielding property effectively. Furthermore, the variations of the light reflectance and light transmittance are more obvious when the TiO2 weight percentage ranges from 0-3 wt.0/0 compared with those within the TiO2 weight percentage of 3-9 vvt.0/0, suggesting that the improvement of the visual shielding property slows clown as the weight percentage of TiO2 increases. When exposed to heat, intumescent fire-retardant coatings expand and build an insulating char. This study presents an investigation of the char by addition of kaolinite, barite, and titania as functional fillers in intumescent coatings. Expansion experiments at 400°C with custom build image analysis showed that kaolinite inhibited (0.03 mm/s, expansion factor ≈ 7), whereas barite acted synergistically on the expansion ability (0.59 mm/s, expansion factor ≈ 85). The resulting char density and the visual inspection showed that barite char was less compact, with cracks and voids. Evaluation of fire performance by single burning item tests resulted in Euroclass C for the barite system and Euroclass A2/B for the titania system. Post-heating chars demonstrated poor thermostability of barite char, and subsequent FTIR spectroscopy revealed that titania char formed the thermostable titanium pyrophosphate. Further inspection of the titania char revealed a uniform closed cell structure with mean bubble sizes of 26–56 µm. Titania coating expands rapidly (0.37 mm/s, expansion factor ≈ 60) and forms a structurally stable tumescent char with a compact and uniform porous structure exhibiting resistance to char oxidation at sustained heating.
VernisIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The problem of graffiti causes immense damage to cities, communities and homeowners. Removing these aggressive spray paints is extremely costly, damages the building fabric and can lead to an entire property dropping in value. However, Wacker has developed a new, highly effective anti-graffiti product, which permanently protects surfaces with a thin film of silicone. Graffiti and stickers can be readily washed off with just cold water. Note de contenu : - Graffiti paints penetrate deeply into building fabric
