Textiles et tissus imprimésIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : This paper presents an initial study from a more extensive programme of research at the design/technology interface that is focused on the use of design methodology as a means to lower the environmental impact of fashion clothing. The leaves and bark that are by products of the responsibly farmed eucalyptus used in the manufacture of lyocell fibres were extracted with water to provide a source of natural colour. Lyocell fabric, which required minimal preparation, was screen printed with an aqueous paste containing only the extracted colour and a natural thickener to provide attractive golden-yellow prints. The printed fabrics demonstrated surprisingly good fastness towards light, washing and rubbing. A mordanting pretreatment of the lyocell with alum modified the colour of the naturally coloured prints to become stronger and duller, but provided no advantage in terms of technical performance. The outcome presents a potentially useful model for the development of sustainably coloured fashion textile products. Note de contenu : - Material

Usure (mécanique)Index. décimale : 668.9 Polymères Résumé : Additive manufacturing (AM) is a versatile and promising method for rapid prototyping and advanced design applications. Owing to its unique potential for fast production rates, and capacity of creating complex shapes, the number of researches on AM techniques have increased day by day in the technical literature. In this work, contrary to common literature efforts focused on mechanical properties, friction and wear behaviors of additively manufactured PETG samples were analyzed experimentally. As a methodology, fused filament fabrication (FFF) was selected. In order to explore the influence of manufacturing factors on wear properties, layer thickness (0.1, 0.2, and 0.3 mm), infill rate (40, 60, 80, and 100%), and building direction (vertical and horizontal) were changed. Before the friction tests, dimensional accuracy, hardness, and surface roughness measurements were conducted to interpret better the wear results. In addition, macroscopic and microscopic inspections were performed to determine the correct reason behind the deformation. From the data collected during the tests, there was a positive interaction between volume loss and layer thickness. Besides, there was no direct interaction between infill rate/building direction and coefficient of friction. In comparison with vertically built samples, horizontally built samples were subjected to more plastic deformation, and their worn surfaces were severely damaged. These programs need mathematical models that have to be improved continuously to simulate the process values realistically. A two-part article presents an analytical approach to calculate the pressure/throughput and drive power behaviour of wall-slipping polymers in the melting section of single-screw plasticizing units. The investigations that are conducted are based on the notion commonly found in the literature of a melt film forming between the barrel and a compact solid bed, with the simultaneous development of a melt pool. As boundary condition for describing the wall slippage, a critical shear stress, as of which a slippage process commences, and also a slippage-velocity-dependent shear stress is assumed. In this first part of the publication, the investigations focus on the processes that take place in the melt film. A new model is developed for describing the process behaviour in this area. After a new model for describing the flow behaviour in the melt film was developed in the first part of the paper, this second part now covers the adaptation of an existing process model for pure melt conveyance to allow for the processes that take place in the melt pool, and the extension of the model to include the drive power calculation. Following this, the two individual models are then coupled through the assumption of a constant pressure gradient in the conveying direction. Using the overall model that is generated, the pressure/throughput and power behaviour during melting are investigated on the basis of the influencing dimensionless variables. This requires the geometry of the solid bed and the solid bed velocity to be specified as input variables. Apart from this, the other material parameters that need to be defined are the viscosity of the polymer melt, the critical shear stress, a material-specific parameter for describing the slipping-velocity-dependent shear stress and the operating point of the process that is taken as a basis. Vapeur d'eauIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : A series of wool keratin/hydroxymethyl cellulose sodium (CMCNa/glyoxal composite membranes were prepared via solution blending and cross linking modification technology. The optimization of composite films preparation was critically investigated via orthogonal experimental design. Experimental results indicated that the cross-linking agent had a greater effect on the mechanical properties of films. Under the optimal condition (keratin/CMCNa weight ratio : 5.5, 0.3% glyoxal, reaction time : 1h, reaction temperature: 37°C), the composite membrane showed good tensile strength and maximum elongation, which can be used as film-forming agent in leather finishing. Moreover, in contrast to casein, the application properties of the leather finished by modified keratin composite film were measured : tensile strength increased by 11.3%, elongation at break improved by 25.7% as well as water vapour permeability by 3.76 %, and wet rub resistance fastness improved from 3 to 4. However, air permeability decreased by 15.1%. SEM and FTIR analysis verified that it has good compatibility, strong hydrogen bonds and covalent bonds formed between cross-linking agent and raw material molecules. The product might be great potentiel for application in leather finishing as film-forming agent instead of casein.
