Traîtements de surfaceIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Herein, surface modification of halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) was conducted to enhance hydrophobicity via piranha etching and treatment with trimethylchlorosilane (TMCS) and 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexamethyldisilazane (HMDS). The surface-modified HNTs (m-HNTs) were added to the epoxy coating, and the corrosion protection performance was evaluated in terms of the mixing ratio. The m-HNTs were characterized by Fourier transform IR spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and field emission transmission electron spectroscopy. The addition of m-HNTs to the epoxy coating led to an improvement in its barrier and adhesion properties. In addition, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy was conducted to evaluate the corrosion protection performance of the epoxy coating with different mixing ratios. Corrosion protection performance was successfully improved by an increase in m-HNTs. The results were in accordance with those of the barrier and adhesion properties.

ThermogravimétrieIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Three two-layer heat-resistant and anticorrosion paints have been formulated from urethane siloxane binder and traditional anticorrosion pigments such as micaceous iron oxide (MIO), zinc phosphate (ZP), and aluminum oxide. These pigments were used as the dominant components of different undercoats or topcoats. Heat-resistant pigments such as silicon nitride and glass-spheres were used in the composition of the topcoats. Thermogravimetric analysis of paints shows that the paint with ZP as dominant component of the undercoat have the highest heat-resistance and stability in inert gas and oxygen. The paint with a combination of MIO and ZP has the best hardness as well as the best protective and anticorrosion properties based on the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. A maximum synergic effect of the properties of pigments seems to appear in this paint. Surface morphology of paints was studied by means of scanning electron microscopy. Heated at different temperatures and for several hours, paint containing MIO as the dominant component in the undercoat exhibits the best mechanical and adhesion properties. Langues : Américain (ame) Catégories : Spectroscopie d'impédance électrochimique Tags : 'Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy test cell' 'EIS conventional specimen holders' Coating 'Flat thin sheet specimen' Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : An innovative test-cell arrangement is proposed and examined for electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) testing of coated thin sheet or foil samples. This arrangement uses a thin layer of medical cotton fabric as a medium containing and transporting 5% sodium chloride solution. This new EIS cell avoids the intervention of edge effect into EIS measurements of painted material. It also avoids the formation of crevice attack experienced at the edges of conventional sample holders or normally under the edge of the masking material. This arrangement is simple and flexible to suit different sizes and shapes of flat panel and foil samples. It can also be used effectively as specimen holders for other than thin sheets. The test cell is also suitable for any electrochemical tests other than impedance measurements. The accelerated results of the EIS present the viability of the EIS test cell to be used as an accelerated nondestructive, repetitive measurement of coated thin metal substrate. Titre : Discrimination by EIS of degradation mechanisms in lap joints of coated metal sheet Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : A. Bautista, Auteur ; E. Otero, Auteur ; J. A. Gonzales, Auteur ; M. Morcillo, Auteur ; E. Almeida, Auteur Année de publication : 1999 Article en page(s) : p. 61-68 Note générale : Bibliogr.

ZincIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The information derived from impedance diagrams obtained by using electrochemical sensors specifically designed for lap joints testing of coated metallic sheets is analyzed. The electrochemical sensors were made by means of steel or zinc sheets, uncontaminated or contaminated with variable amounts of sodium chloride, and overcoated with organic coatings. Such sensors show the effect of the nature of the metallic substrate, the underfilm saline contamination, and the relative humidity of the environment outside the lap joint. The results show that the information obtained from electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) on the behavior within the lap joints can be assessed by the criteria traditionally used for plain painted metal surfaces.By modeling the data, it is possible to discriminate between effects due to the organic coating and to the corrosion reaction at the metal-coating interface. The results indicate that the addition of 60-nm Fe2O3 can significantly improve the barrier properties of a coating, while 150-nm Fe2O3. has little effect. The 0.2% PVC 60-nm Fe203 coating had significantly improved protection.
