XRD patterns exhibited the formation of a mixture of two phases (Na2Ti3O7, Na2Ti6O13) with monoclinic structure. FTIR spectra showed that the set of overlapping peaks in the range of 800–400 cm−1 are related to Ti–O and Ti–O–Ti groups. SEM-EDAX, AFM, and TEM showed the surface morphology of the coated surface to be nanoporous and uniform. The influence of the bioactivity of the coating in a simulated body fluid (SBF) medium was examined. Excellent adhesion of the ceramic composites to the substrate was achieved. The hydrophilic nature of the sodium titanate coating induced the formation of hydroxyapatite layer on the metal surface. The corrosion protection performance of the coatings has been evaluated using potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements, which proved increased corrosion resistance of nanosodium titanate-coated 316L SS. These results imply that the sodium titanate-coated 316L SS acts as a barrier layer to the metallic substrate. The tetragonal crystalline structure with a flower-like shape and thickness of 150-nm nanosheets was used as electrode material in an exciting approach for the photoelectrochemical discoloration reaction of methyl orange. The structure, morphology and optical properties of the obtained bismuth oxychloride sample were evaluated through X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, the Brunauer–Emmett–Teller method, diffuse reflectance ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Through photoelectrochemical characterisation measurements (linear sweep voltammetry, chronoamperometry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy techniques), the bismuth oxychloride electrode showed remarkable electroactivity under ultraviolet light irradiation. The methyl orange discoloration reaction, performed under ultraviolet light incidence and potential application of −0.5 V (vs silver/silver chloride) for 60 minutes, produced a higher degradation percentage (ca. 82%) and kobs of 29 × 10−3 min−1. Polymères en émulsionIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Carboxylated graphene oxide (GO-COOH), prepared by the reaction of bromoacetic acid with the hydroxyl and epoxy groups on the graphene oxide (GO) layers, was blended into a poly(ethyl acrylate) (PEA) emulsion and a PEA emulsion based polyacrylate leather finishing agent respectively, to prepare PEA/GO-COOH composite emulsions and GO-COOH modified waterborne polyacrylate leather finishing agents. The consequence of the amount of GO-COOH on the properties of the PEA film and related leather coatings were systematically investigated. The results indicate that stable GO-COOH dispersed composite emulsions were generated leading to homogeneously dispersed composite films. With an increase in the GO-COOH amount from 0 wt% to 0.5 wt%, the tensile strength increased by 106.2%. Additionally, TGA results demonstrated an improvement of the thermal stability of PEA film after modified with GO-COOH. Most importantly, the folding resistance and rubbing fastness properties of leather finished with GO-COOH modified polyacrylate leather finishing agents were improved proportionate to the GO-COOH amount. Therefore, the GO-COOH modified waterborne polyacrylate leather finishing agent possesses improved performances and likely offers beneficial leather finishing application properties. ThermogravimétrieIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : A pair of isomeric aromatic heterocyclic dyes, bearing the same N-methyl pyridine-2,6-dione coupling component but a different 2- or 4-aminobenzoic acid diazo component, were characterised structurally and spectroscopically. X-ray single-crystal diffraction analyses revealed that they both adopt the same hydrazone-tautomeric form and planar molecular conformation between the pyridine and phenyl rings. Furthermore, azo–hydrazone transformation was achieved for the 2-aminobenzoic-acid-based dye after Cu(II) ion complexation, as verified by the formation of a neutral Cu(II) dye–metal complex. The coordination geometry of the central Cu(II) ion exhibits a slightly distorted pyramid with a math formula value of 0.028, where the ligand loses a proton during complexation and serves as the tridentate coordination mode. In addition, thermogravimetric analysis and corresponding differential thermal analysis for the isomeric pair showed that they both have excellent thermal stability, and 4-aminobenzoic-acid-based dye has a higher decomposition temperature (319 °C) than the 2-aminobenzoic-acid-based dye (312 °C). To the best of our knowledge, this is the first structural study on aromatic heterocyclic dyes having aminobenzoic acid and pyridine-2,6-dione components at the same time. Température de retraitIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Hydroxyapatite(HAP) has been extensively used in clinics for such as bone tissue repair because of its outstanding performance. But, whether HAP can be utilized in other fields still remains unknown, for example leather making. In the present work HAP was synthesized using a hydrothermal method with diammonium hydrogen phosphate and calcium nitrate as phosphorus and calcium precursors respectively. The Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis of products shows that HAP can be produced using the wet-chemical method. The condition optimization test results indicated that high purity HAP can be obtained when the reaction was carried out at 80°C and pH11 with surfactant added and ultrasonic treatment for 8 hours. To study the effect of HAP on cow hide and whether it can be used as tanning agent, vitro and vivo tests of adding HAP into cow hide were conducted. The cow hide was first treated in the wet end process of leather making and then cut into several parts. The parts were treated using different HAP addition methods and the experimental results were compared under different conditions. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis indicated that HAP can react with the cow hide using both methods. Cow hide physicochemical properties were improved after reaction with HAP, the thermal stability was especially enhanced. The thermal shrinkage temperature of the treated hide was 78°C which was higher than the sample in the control group of 54°C. The hide tensile strength was greatly enhanced because HAP penetrated into the hide and reacted on hide collagen. So, HAP has the potential to be used as chrome-free tannage. This meant that the modification of cow hide by HAP was feasible and HAP tannage or HAP combination tannage was of practical significance.
