> Hydroxyapatite
Hydroxyapatite

Produits antisolairesIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Kalichem explains how explains how a SPF mineral booster based on biomimetic hydroxyapatite, used in sun care formulation, offers proven benefits in terms of multifunctionality, texture improvement, safety and low environmental impact.
Sunscreens are well known to prevent damage related to environmental stress, including UV-A and UV-B rays. Chronic and prolonged exposure to sunlight causes damaging effects: UV-B are responsible for erythema and sunburn, while UV-A causes photo-ageing, acute and chronic photodermatosis and immunosuppression.
UV filters are molecules or molecular complexes that absorb, reflect, or disperse radiation and they represent the main protection measures against UV. They are divided into two main types: organic (chemical) and inorganic (physical) filters, due to their molecular nature and mechanism of action. Chemical filters absorb radiations while physical filters are mineral particles that reflect and diffuse them.Note de contenu : - Sun filter concerns

Test d'immersionIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Recently, magnesium (Mg) and its alloys have attracted more attention because of their biodegradability and fascinating mechanical properties in the medical field. However, their low corrosion resistance and high degradability in the body have a great effect on mechanical stability and cytocompatibility, which hinders its clinical applications. Therefore, here we introduce a bifunctional composite coating composed of polycaprolactone and synthesized hydroxyapatite nanoparticles (HA-NPs) loaded with simvastatin deposited on the AZ31 alloy via electrospinning technique. The synthesized HA-NPs and composite nanofibers layer were characterized using TEM, FE-SEM, FTIR, and XRD to understand the physiochemical properties of the composite nanofibers compared to pristine polymer and bare alloy. Corrosion resistance was evaluated electrochemically using potentiodynamic polarization and EIS measurements, and biodegradability was evaluated in terms of pH and Mg ions release in SBF solution. The as-prepared coating was found to retard the corrosion and increased the osteocompatibility as resulted in cell culture test, a higher cell attachment and proliferation on the implant biointerface, in addition to releasing simvastatin in a controlled platform. Titane -- AlliagesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : A thin layer of hydroxyapatite (HAp) coating has been developed on Ti6Al4V substrates using a dip-coating process. An intermediate layer of shellac (natural resin) was applied in between the substrate and the coating film to improve the adhesion strength without the need for any secondary annealing process. The adhesion strength was measured as 7.14 MPa. The surface of the developed coating was characterized using a scanning electron microscope. The total coating thickness was found to be 30 microns, and the surface roughness parameters were measured as 0.93 μm (Ra), 1.17 μm (Rq), and 6.67 μm (Rz). The dip-coated samples were also subjected to dissolution behavior study and in vitro study. The measured parameters of the coating suggest the use of this method as an alternative to other expensive and temperature-dependent coating methods for producing HAp coating with better adhesion strength.
(Wikipedia)
Métaux -- Revêtements protecteursIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Magnesium (Mg) and its alloys are promising materials for temporary biomedical implants such as bone fracture fixation devices. Unfortunately, rapid degradation in the physiological environment and cytotoxicity have impeded their clinical use. Hydroxyapatite (HA) coatings synthesized via ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid calcium disodium salt hydrate (EDTA-Ca) and potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KH2PO4) have emerged as one effective strategy to enhance the corrosion resistance and biocompatibility of Mg and its alloys. However, effects of the concentrations of EDTA-Ca and KH2PO4 on the morphology, corrosion protection, and biocompatibility of HA coatings remain unclear. In this study, the morphology, thickness, corrosion protection, and cytocompatibility of the HA coatings fabricated on high-purity Mg with different concentrations of the synthetic solution are investigated. Our results show that the fabricated coatings are composed of a dome-shaped outer HA layer and an inner Mg(OH)2 layer. With decreasing the concentrations of the synthetic solution, the HA and Mg(OH)2 layers become thinner and thicker, respectively, and the corrosion resistance and cytocompatibility of the coated Mg become better. The formation mechanism of the prepared coatings and relationships between the concentrations of the synthetic solution and the corrosion and biological characteristics are also discussed.
