When it comes to conventional dyeing systems, which use large quantities of water, chemical, and energy, cause a lot of effluent load to the environment. Again the effluent water has to be treated well to eliminate all the harmful substances in it. To overcome the issues, a lot of research has been carried out in this area to minimise the use of water and chemicals in the dyeing process. Like use of low material to liquor ratio (M:L) in dyeing, dyes with high fixation at lower temperatures, low/salt less dyeing in case of reactive dyeing with cotton, cottonseed oil dyeing, microwave-assisted dyeing, and use of supercritical carbon dioxide in case of polyester dyeing and many more. All the above said methods are aqueous-based and, after the completion of dyeing, results in wastewater generation, which requires further treatment to reduce the harmful chemicals. Therefore, to further minimise the use of water and chemicals in the dyeing of natural fibres reverse micellar system has been introduced with the help of surfactants of both Ionic and nonionic in nature. As of today, a lot of work has been carried out in the dyeing of natural fibres with this system by employing ionic, nonionic, and mixed surfactants. Fascinating results were obtained in the dyeing with good levelness, high exhaustion, and fixation values, and results were compared with conventional dyeing. Computer colour matching studies were also done better to understand the applicability of these systems in the industry and found nearer results. Note de contenu : - Nonionic reverse micellar system

The absorbance of the complex is measured at 630nm. Chemical factors and rrFIA variables affecting the system are also discussed. Under the optimal conditions, the linear range of this method is 0.005-1.0mg•L-1; the detection limit is 4.01pg•L-1; the precision is 0.583%. Comparing the method with the National Standard Method of China, the error is within ± 5% which meets the requirements. The proposed method is simple and convenient for the determination of formaldehyde in tannery effluent. Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURE : Reagents - Apparatus - Analytical procedure

TannageIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : In order to control the pollution by nitrite, a direct spectrophotometric flow injection method for the determination of nitrite in tannery effluents has been developed. The method is based on the diazotized intramolecular coupling of a 4-amino-5hydroxynaphthalene-2,7-disulfonic acid monosodium salt hydrate (AHNDMS) by the addition of nitrite in a phosphate buffer solution of pH7.5 and the increase in absorbance of the purple complex is monitored at 550nm. Chemical factors and FIA variables affecting the system are also discussed. Under the optimal conditions, the linear range of this method was 20-1500µg l-1 ; the detection limit was 0.15µg l-1 ; the relative standard deviation was 0.67 % (n=11, 450µg l-1). This method was suitable for automatic and continuous analysis, and successfully applied to determine the content of nitrite in tannery effluent. SpectrophotométrieIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : A simple and rapid spectrophotometric method for the determination of sulphide has been developed using flow injection analysis. The proposed method is based on the reducibility of sulphide ion towards alizarin red S resulting in an intense red complex with a suitable absorption peak at 515nm. The absorbance value of this compound is directly proportional to the concentration. Optimum conditions for determining sulphide were investigated by a univariate method. TaninsIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : A rapid, simple, reliable and automatic method was proposed for on-line determination of tannic acid in leather wastewaters. Based on the tannic acid reduction of phosphotungstic acid to form a blue compound in pH12.38 alkaline solutions, the shade of the blue compound is in a linear relation to the content of tannic acid at the maximum absorption peak of 700nm. The optimal experimental conditions have been obtained. The linear range of the proposed method was between 200μg L-1 to 50mg L-1. The relative standard deviation was 3.21% and 2.06% for 500μg L-1 and 20mg L-1 of tannic acid standard solution respectively (n = 10). The method had been successfully applied to determination of tannic acid in leather wastewater samples and the analytical results were satisfactory.
