Note de contenu : - Materials

Pigmentation de la peau
Taches pigmentaires (dermatologie)Index. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Science and new technology have made molecular data accessible and it is thanks to this informational context that we are able to identify the main players involved in the skin pigmentation process.
Genes that use signalling pathways are this study's ideal targets for assessing the efficacy of the main active agents to be developed. In the laboratory, a new brown algae extract has been revealed to us with potential implications for regulating the expression of genes participating in melanogenesis. The results have indeed come to show that the extract is able to inhibit the expression of those genes responsible for melanin synthesis activation, as well as to activate the genes responsible for their degradation. In addition to possessing uncommon properties by virtue of the alga’s iridescence, this extract, called CyWhite, helps to naturally rebalance skin pigmentation.Note de contenu : - Melanogenesis : how does skin get its colour ?

Index. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : With 4,4'-diaminostilbene-2,2'-disulfphonic acid, 2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine and N,N-dimethyldodecylamine as main raw materials, a stilbene quaternary ammonium salt intermediate was synthesised by condensation and quaternisation reaction under the catalysis of sodium hydroxide, and then reacted with two different amino acids to prepare novel amino acid-stilbene quaternary ammonium salt fluorescent whitening agents. The structures of target compounds were characterized by Fourier Transform–infrared and proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Their photophysical properties, whitening performance and firmness in aqueous solution were assessed by means of ultraviolet absorption spectra, fluorescence emission spectra and a cotton fibre application test. The results showed that the two amino acid-stilbene quaternary ammonium salt fluorescent whitening agents had a good whitening effect on cotton fibres and displayed strong acid resistance. Compared with the traditional fluorescent whitening agent C186, their firmness was greatly improved. The anti-bacterial activities against three strains were evaluated in vitro. The results showed that they exhibited significant anti-bacterial activity against the selected strains, and the respective minimum inhibitory concentration values against Candida albicans and Escherichia coli were 16.8 and 8.16 μg/ml. Textiles et tissusIndex. décimale : 668.1 Agents tensioactifs : savons, détergents Résumé : Laundry detergents commonly contain bleach activators that react with the perhydroxy anion produced from perborate or percarbonate anions to form activated peroxy compounds; these enhance bleaching and stain removal capacity especially at lower temperatures, hydrogen peroxide being an inefficient bleach below 60°C. The most commonly used activators are N, N, N′, N′-tetraacetylethylenediamine (TAED) and sodium nonanoyloxybenzenesulphonate (SNOBS) the former being used across Europe whereas the latter is used widely in the United States and Japan. This research studies the preparation of novel activator compounds which are carbamylated derivatives of selected nucleophiles using either solid or aqueous reactions of nucleophilic carboxylate anions with the highly reactive isocyanic acid entity derived from the acidification of sodium cyanate. The novel activator compounds were then assessed as bleach activators by testing against tea and bilberry-stained cotton reference fabrics at 40°C in the presence of hydrogen peroxide at pH values ranging from 4 to 10; bleaching efficiency was assessed visually and colorimetrically. Results showed that all of the synthesised compounds were more effective bleach activators across the pH range tested than the standard TAED system. Ingrédients cosmétiquesIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : The global market for skin whitening products (also called brighteners, according to the geographical areas) amounts to US$ 13 billion and is a rapidly growing segment in the personal care industry. According to Euromonitor, it will grow at about 13% per year in Asia Pacific during the next 5 years.
Skin lightening has been quite popular in Japan for a considerable time but the whole Asian market is actively following the trend. The whitening cosmetic market is growing rapidly in China (33% of the Chinese population use lightening cosmetics daily or weekly). Asian women are using these products to lighten their naturally dark skin colour. However, European and American women are using 'brightening' products to reduce age spots, acne scars and freckles, for instance. There is a continuous demand for innovative and efficient products, able to act both instantaneously and in the long term.Note de contenu : - Active for a long-term brightening
